It's not just about age though, it's also fighting years and Max is as old as anyone in that regard.

One of these days that chin is not going to hold up, I mean even Zombie had him stunned a couple of times.
 
He may be 31 but he's a very old 31 in fighting years and has taken a lot of damage over the years. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we a Tony Ferguson or Chuck Liddell like decline in him before he's 35.
 
I doubt it....Max is 31 but has over 30 MMA pro fights with a lot of cage time. Not to mention the way he has talked over the last few years it seems like he is more the guy that is ready to get out early over staying to late. He also has basically taking sparring out of his training few years back.

If I'm Max I'm looking for couple more big money fights and calling it a day.
 
Max is never beating Volk but Volk is in his mid 30’s. Father time will say hi sooner than later and Max could have a shot at being champ again. Unless a new talented prospect comes out of nowhere.
 
31 is like 50 in aloha years brah

Max has a lot of fight mileage so I'm not sure how much longer the window to become champ again will last but his fights are can't miss events. It's been a pleasure watching his career.

Max is older in fight age though. 13 year career and holds the record for most strikes absorbed.
 
He has a lot of mileage and the weight cutting gets harder with age.
 
Age means nothing, mileage is too high on Max. Blocking punches with his elite chin throughout his career has definitely had an impact on his game. He’s noticeably slower these days. I think the Poirier rematch was the beginning of his decline, took a lot of damage in that fight
 
If Volk leaves FW he can definitely become champ again. Honestly, FW isn't that deep anymore. The top 5 wouldn't be top 10 in any other of the lighter divisions. Max is either going to become champ again when Volk leaves or is going to be that guy that gets beat by some up and comer to set up a new challenger. I think Max just loves to fight. If he's happy doing what he loves I'm happy to watch.
 
He’s 31 but took more damage than people in their 40s. I do get your point and see him as champ again.
 
Max is the clear #2, his best fight against Volk was the 2nd which i thought he won, im not sure why Volk would move up tho, he did ok once, but there is a whole new list of guys there, all considerably bigger.
 
31 but has taken a ton of damage and he lacks the aggression he used to have.

Max has a shit ton of mileage tho.

There's just so many high level fights and wars a fighter can take regardless of age and I think Holloway is at a point where we're going to start seeing him lose fights really soon.

I hope he continues to win, but it's just the reality.

Meh early 30s hasn’t been kind to fighters in the smaller weight divisions

obviously there are exceptions with volk, but he started quite late
