Matt Mitrione Signs with Bellator

I didn't like him on TUF but he fought some good fights in the octagon and showed that his persona on the show as just made-up. It sucks to see him head to Bellator, but I guess that's what he wants.

Bellator is doing themselves a disservice constantly picking up UFC "out-the-door" fighters. When a brand can't form their own stars or high caliber fighters then there's a problem with the brand. A few years ago Bellator was doing a good job at forming their own stars... Eddie Alvarez, Hector Lombard, even Joe Warren. But now we're just seeing them pick up fighters who are on the down-slope of their career... maybe we'll see some fun fights but the gravity of those fights is underwhelming because even with some good wins it seems as though these fighters will never be anywhere near the top 15.
 
Mitrione also announced that he will be the color commenatator for Bellator kickboxing.
 
I really don't feel meathead is on the downslope just my 2 cents he had a late start for his career but has worked hard at it. Also we all know he did got a shit deal in his last fight . Guy can do some good things in Bellator.

Also about the signings and building new stars and such I see where people are coming from but at the same time look at Liam Mcgeary he's ranked in the top 10 now after he beat Tito, a UFC "out the door" guy. It goes both ways this is a good signing for Bellator.
 
I think it makes sense for all parties. For Bellator they get a solid name for a division basically void of talent for them.

Matt is also a good talker and they got him doing commentating as well.

For the UFC he's never been a real headliner before. Don't think it would have made a whole lot of sense to spend a ton which it sounds like Bellator did.

Matt can be a star in Bellator, UFC doesn't lose a big name and Bellator gets a Top 20 Heavyweight.
 
He could end up being the champ if he can avoid the ground game...

I can see hiis first fight being against one of those fat, 5'8' short armed terrible HW's they sometimes have on the prelims.
 
Good pick up for bellator. Matt could have some solid fights in bellator. Highlight reel finishes.

He got fucked in his last fight, so I wish him the best
 
He says he's getting paid six figures per fight, so I don't think they're going to waste him on no-name opponents.

Wow that's funny that he tweeted that, but who else is he going to fight? Kongo? ... Lashley? ... ... Kimbo?
