According to Mitrione, who fought out his UFC contract to seek free agency, he's received an offer from Bellator. While specifics were not detailed, Mitrione was quick to note the deal Bellator offered is quite alright by him.

"UFC has the right to match," he explained. "Definitely, I've got a very nice offer from Bellator. I'm very happy with that. I've been in talks with ONE [Championship]. I feel I am very happy with where things are with Bellator right now.

"As a matter of fact," he continued, "I actually sent in today the official offer sheet from Bellator into the UFC to see if they want to match."

Mitrone said he isn't sure if they'll match. "If they do, awesome. Great, then we can have a conversation," he noted. As it stands, he believes the UFC has roughly two weeks to respond to Bellator's offer, although he believes they'll likely act one way or the other within a week. While he waits, he said he's auditioned for a television color commentary job.

Great news for someone who got fucked bad in his last fight. Hw is a kitty pool. The UFC should be extremely reluctant to let any hw go present day.

My money says that bellator signs mittrione, jorgenson, and ellenburger.

I think UFC tries to keep Mitrione. Although he's 37, he's shown alot of improvement and understanding of the game over his past fights and nearly all his wins in the UFC were KOs.

They could use him on FS1

I've always wanted to know how long they have to respond when matching an offer. Good to know for future use.

I hope Bellator gets him.

I'd rather him stick with the UFC but at this point I'd just like him to get a fight soon. He's 37 so there's not much time left but I consider him pretty dangerous at HW.

I'm 90% sure the UFC has more than two weeks to match. Either way, good for Meat. I'm glad orgs are offering good money for him.

It's actually 3 weeks, or 15 business days.

Prior to acceptance of any Offer made during the Matching Period, Fighter shall first deliver to ZUFFA a written notice of all material financial terms and conditions of the offer, including, but not limited to, the identity of the promotional entity making the offer. Such notice shall constitute an exclusive, irrevocable offer (the "Fighter Offer") to contract with ZUFFA on the same financial terms and conditions. ZUFFA shall have fifteen (15) business days following receipt of the Fighter Offer in which to accept the financial terms of the Fighter Offer. If ZUFFA does not accept the Fighter Offer, Fighter may then accept the offer without modification during the ten (10) business day period following expiration of the Fighter Offer (the "Contract Period").

Bellator is where I always thought he'd end up. He's not worth big money, he's not a top HW.

if you keep him its as a mid card guy which is fine, you can always use guys like that but for the right price.

He has a much better shot at being a top HW in Bellator.

I'd like to see Mitrione in Bellator. I hope he signs with them.

Wherever Meathead goes, I'll watch.

I think the UFC needs to focus on answering the question... "Who will the top 5 heavyweights in the world be in 3 years?"

Mitrione, Jordan, Nelson, etc... aren't a part of that answer unfortunately, and they likely demand a larger than normal wage. I'd say let them duke it out in Bellator and make good money while being a title challenger. For the long game, the UFC needs to let those guys pursue other opportunities and recruit the next generation of heavyweight superstars.

Depends what Bellator offered. He's not a guy that is a huge draw or big name for the UFC. But he's a Heavyweight and there aren't many of them at a high level. If they offered him a decent deal? Go for it. If it's overboard let them have him.

Want Matt to get paid but at the same time. Other than Minakov there isn't a single fight I really would get too amped for in Bellator. Few decent ones not a lot.

They'll keep Nelson around until his contract is up and then I think they'll let him walk.

You are right though, focus on Blaydes, Pav, Amir, good HW prospects who can be top 5 in a few years.

I get wanting to keep a few of these fringe top 15 guys cause HW isnt a deep div but guys you mentioned arent guys they have to keep.

He would make a nice addition.

Thats a pretty good signing for bellator i wouldnt mind seeing a tourny between him lashley tony johnson and cheick kongo to crown a new champ.. Its been way too long for minakov and its getting to be a bit much
