Why does the UFC sometimes sit on their hands instead of making great and obvious matchups? I realize that part of the time they want to wait until the two fighters are in "the right place" (ie., fighting for the title) but often times the matchup just never happens or after they're out of their prime (or move up in weight)

Matchups I want or have wanted to see:

- Frank Mir vs Gabriel Gonzaga
- Dodson vs Benavidez
- Cejudo vs (Dodson or Benavidez)
- Mcgregor vs Frankie Edgar (or a wrestler with a full camp)
- Hendricks vs Woodley
- Teixeira vs Cormier

Although, looking through the rankings, they actually have made a lot of good matchups in recent years. Any others you want to see?

CONOR VS JONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I think you’re alone with most of those.

1) Because they are trying to make the worst possible match ups in order to make their business fail, or
2) Because they're making the best possible match ups and it ain't that easy to please everybody

I actually really want to see DC vs Glover.

Everyone except Conor, JK, and the UFC wants to see Frankie vs Conor.

Luke vs JJ or Gus
Nick vs Bisping or Lyoto
Woodley vs Hendricks
Wonderboy vs Condit
Nick vs Maia
Yancy vs Cerrone
Nate vs Ferguson
Holloway vs Pettis or Barboza
Mendes vs Alvarez
Cody or Cruz or TJ vs Conor
Cody vs Cruz or TJ or Sterling
Dodson vs Edgar
Edgar vs MM
Dodson vs Joe
Jojo vs Rose

Shane carwin vs art jimmerson

They've made mind blowing match ups in the last couple of years. We're spoiled. As of late, there are always several events I'm looking forward to at any given time.

That's not to say that they don't sometimes try and manipulate the course of things by avoiding certain fights. But really, it's getting hard to even argue that, given that they've seen so many of their stars fall recently.

For example, McGregor vs Mendez was a huge risk for McGregor (and the UFC). Forget about full camps for a minute; McGregor had been training for a totally different style of fight, yet jumped in there with a high level wrestler.

Mighty Mouse vs. Cain Velasquez

Some men just want to watch the world burn...

I agree Mendez was a huge risk for McGregor and I was really impressed with him in that fight... but so was the rest of the world and the UFC brass so much so that they checked off the "beat a wrestler" checkbox and didn't look back.

That was less than a year ago though.

Heavyweight tag team grappling match:

Frank Mir and Barnett vs Werdum and Big Nog.

Honestly, I think you’re alone with most of those.

Just about to say, he's no Joe Silva.

In the past, too many to mention.

In the present:

Lawler v Condit II
Jones v Rockhold
Cruz v Edgar
Werdum v Jones
Conor v all of the above at the same time.

Stipe vs Reem
DC vs Weidman
Romero vs Belfort
Luke vs JJ or Gus
Nick vs Bisping or Lyoto
Woodley vs Hendricks
Wonderboy vs Condit

Dodson vs Edgar

Dodson vs Joe
Jojo vs Rose

Nice. There's a bunch here I want to see. Nick vs Maia and Bisping sound especially groovy.

Velasquez vs DC
Jones vs Werdum
Rumble vs Rockhold
Cruz vs Aldo
Nick vs Nate
Sterling vs Almeida
