Media Masvidal vs Askren a was a tribute to "El Diego" Maradona.

I miss WEC cards
They had some serious fun fights and really showcased the smaller guys. 145 and 55 were the shit there. So much talent came from the wec. I really wish they didn't fold and we're just used as a feeder league for the UFC.

Early stoppage. Askren was planking as a joke and the ref stopped it.
Agreed, It was reminiscent of the Diaz lay down in front of Silva

I doubt Jorge would’ve liked Diego too much. He was chums with Fidel and...

Maradona isn't even top 5

Except this thread wasn't about his skills as a football player. Apologies if you meant "top 5" at kneeling fellow footballers with good timing - then I'm all ears :). The Zidane incident or pulverizing opponents by sliding into their joints from the back/lateral don't count.

Back on the subject, as logic demands, some of the "GOATS" of today would've died before getting into that fight:

They surely are good, today, at taking dives for nothing.

Source: playing more of a brutal football on concrete as semi-retarded kids, two and a half decades ago, than today's handsomely paid athletes. Diving for real but with too much pathos or eagerness in the schoolyard during a match, resulted in being ridiculed by our sports teacher (himself a former Olympian) in ways it rustled our fragile masculinity to no end :D. So we learned to walk it off before we were told to do so.

And watching football before most of you were born.

[L.E.] Seems that the embedded video is not for prepubescents; Youtube will make you bend a knee to its will, if you want to see it. Long live the double-standard in filtering its content.

Maradona was perhaps the most elegant footballer of my lifetime. He doesn't deserve to have his lowest on-pitch-moment replayed to commemorate his passing.

Zidane was the most elegant player of all time for me, but Maradona is the best player I've ever seen kick a football.

Yoooo that’s wild! What’s the story there? Did that ref make a bad call or something?

They tried to hurt / injure him the whole match with hard fouls and Maradona went on a killing spree after he had enough suffered.

inb4 the Americans wake up in about an hour, open this thread and ask who da fook Maradona is

Football has some gruesome moments. I mean most of these guys are high paid hoodlums at the end of the day.
Top 10 brutal moment was German goalkeeper Harald Schumacher tackling French midfielder with his hips in 1982 at full speed.
