Masvidal: "It’s not over for Ben"

I say run it back between them. I like both of them. Let’s see if Jorge can do it again.
Lol fuck him. He didn't want to give Robbie a rematch, so he dam sure shouldn't expect one in return.

He didn't speak English until he was 12. His Spanish is not really very clean either, though.
Fair enough. Is the Cuban population in Florida actually that big that even in school he could get by without speaking English?

I don't think any of what he said was trying to convey that he was particularly intelligent.

He was pondering if Askren might be a little racist by pretending not to understand him using basic English. He might have a point, to be honest.

That is because he is not very eloquent, not because he is non-white. Askren might say the same of the Diaz brothers. Of course he understands what he is saying, he was trying to annoy him and get on his head. Masvidal had no point.

I still can't find out what Ben said that was supposedly so bad.

George seems kinda childish here.
I think its that Askren represents something Jorge doesnt like. Askrens well spoken, smart, maybe a bit nerdy, and hes mostly a wrestler, not a blood and guts fighter. We know for sure he watched that Lawler fight and probably completley emphathized with Lawler. When he fought Till,it was a real recognize real situation where both guys are violent street dudes, and there was a degree of respect there because for self preservations sake, these guys can make money with each other without going at each others throats beforehand. Im guess in Jorge's eyes if Till was able to have mutual respect, than Askren should definitley not say anything at all. Its not even about what he said, its just the fact that he's talking anything about him. Plus i dont think Jorge could handle losing to a guy like this, and thats why he went right at him.

Exactly. To take it any other way is being overly sensitive, and to look for something that isnt there.

It says a lot that there are actually people who don't realize how far out of line comments like these are.

Askren put out some of the weakest trash talk I've ever heard, just to get a fight. It was borderline friendly banter. For some reason now, Masvidal and half of the fans think this is okay? Seriously, what the fuck is going on?
How is it any worse than Askrens tweet to Till after he got knocked out?

Imagine being shocked someone is honest about disliking someone
They sure as hell were when Ronda actually disliked Tate, and not just for money like a pro wrestling angle.

Im not sure what the problem is here. Some people just dont like each other. I have a co-worker I hate, hes just not my kinda guy.

Assgrin didnt try to be humble one bit after the lawler fight, he was all cockiness and brought that into this fight. He didnt respect masvidal at all as an opponent or a human and got obliterated for it. I was at the fight and all the fans were supporting masvidal at the walkouts. One of the best Ko's and nights of my life. My voice is completely gone i sound like the godfather.

I really like Jorge but goddamn are some of these fighters ever insecure. Crying over words, fuck off.
In the end,all this stuff is fuel for the violence to come later. I think Jorge is ok with feeding that beast.

Maybe not the healthiest thing to do,but there's no ONE way to motivate oneself.

So honest question then. Why is he best buds with Colby who's been way more offensive than Askren? Seems pretty damned hypocritical doesnt it?.

I honestly think Jorge saw how "3 piece and a soda" took off so he's marketing himself to all the rubes who worship dat thug life. People think he's being real but I think he's putting on a shtick now just like Colby does and making up things Askren never said in order to play victim and convince people.

I dont agree. He's always been that way. People are just paying more attention to him now.

A Shtick? The guy fought way bigger dudes in back yards in florida bare knuckle for chump change and respect. That dude is a legit "thug" (thats not what hes doing BTW) and has multiple videos to prove it. Some people just dont take shit from people and rightfully shouldnt.

I'm just confused why you care who he's friends with. Or like he's not allowed to be. You're a fucking weird guy

Here's what he thinks about it in his own words.

"Colby’s a particular case because we’ve been friends for a long time. I’ve known him six years, plus. So it’s more than just teammates – we’re good friends, and he’s doing his thing. Am I a fan of that? I mean, whatever – it’s not really what I care for. Everybody’s doing it. It’s not just Colby. I don’t want to just pick on Colby. Everybody’s doing it. Can you get mad at Colby because he wants to put extra money in his pocket? No. But, when you think about it, everybody’s going to be doing it? What the (expletive), man? Nobody has a little bit of personality? Nobody’s like, ‘I’m going to be myself today; I’m not gonna insult your mom.’ It’s corny, and it’s only going to get worse. We’re seeing it more and more. And I know you guys do it because the clickbait works so well and the fans eat it up."

None of that explains why he'd make up shit about Askren, even claiming he's racist while being good friends with and giving Colby a pass for it. LIke he said, everybody is just trying to put money in their pocket.

This is exactly why I think Masvidal is marketing himself to the rubes who worship dat thug life. He saw how "3 piece and a soda" took off so being a classless thug is now his shtick.

I never sid he wasn't a legit thug. I said he's found a way to market himself with his "thug life, 3 piece and a soda" shtick to people like you who think he's just keeping it real. If he was real he wouldn't need to keep talking about it and making up shit that Askren never said.

That's my point. He saw how people reacted and paid attention to the "3-piece and a soda" thing so now he's running with that image and playing it up even more. I don't recall him ever doing a bunch of interviews making up stuff before in order to rationalize his own behavior.
