Masvidal Disputes Five-Second Knockout Time

I would side with Masvidal, but fuck him for the intentional late hits.

The onscreen clock is for the fans. That's why it doesn't pop up mmediately and disappears before the end of the round. It's go give the people watching on TV an idea of how much time is left.

The time from when the bell rings to the knee landing is about 2.5. He out immediately. Faster than I've ever seen. He's like rigor mortis fucked up the instant the knee lands. 3.5 seconds is what I'd time it as.

Had Masvidal landed on his feet and walked off it would have ended sooner than it did.

When you walk off KO a guy hunt style the ref doesn't have to rush over, pounce on you and wave it off. He can wave the fight off and then run over to the knocked out fighter.
 
I don’t mind him milking this, it will be the apex of his career.

Nah he could of woke back up like he did against Robbie. You gotta keep swangin and bangin. Otherwise, you risk looking the fool like Silva did when he let Bisping off the hook. Unfortunately, these fighters must assume that every ref is as incompetent as Herb Dean.

Can’t really compare Askren to Bisping.

Askren was the most knocked out I’ve ever seen a fighter.

I can't compare them after the fact, but in the moment Masvidal was raining down fist less than a second after Ben head touch the ground. Honestly watching it live it was hard to even register what was happening. It wasn't until they showed the replay in slow motion did you realize Ben died an instant death.

You sound pretty salty about Askren getting exposed. How is Masvidal getting 15 minutes? That term is for someone being famous for something out of the ordinary. Jorge has 47 pro MMA fights. KOing Askren was unusually quick but it wasn't his first. He just KO'd Till and also TKO'd Cerrone and Ellenberger recently as well.
 
If Jorge wants to officially dispute the time of the KO, Ben should officially dispute the validity of the punches after the KO, and attempt to get the result turned to a NC or DQ.

If the ref was faster James Irvin would have the record vs Houston Alexander I believe.

Close to same deal though he ran out and Superman punch walk off ko’ed him.

Ben can dispute if he wants, hell lose. It's not Masvidals job determine when the fight is over in the cage. Bens grievance would be with ref.

He said this as he was watching the fight after it happened.
 
I don’t care what the official number is. Askren was in funky town at 4:57 and that’s the only number that matters. Future records will be measured against this number.

You can’t have time based performances colored by ref reaction time. That’s nonsense and probably subject to change. When these rules were made, no one considered how fast some of these knockouts would be, and the faster the knockout, the more the ref reaction matters.
 
He was KO'd in just over 2 seconds, the fight was stopped by the ref 3 seconds after that
 
Should've walked away but I didn't mind the extra blows lol. 5 seconds will still be a tall ask going forward

LOL don’t be stupid

The fight ends as soon as the ref calls it, but these sorts of time based records should have the ref’s reaction factored out. It’s complete nonsense to have a time-based record be a combination of the athlete’s and the ref’s performances.
