I lost count on how many times they would just keep shooting walls or the cover without moving. The AI isn't great in ME1. Still fun to play, though.

Yea I had Wrex just chilling outside of the combat area not doing shit while me and Liara are struggling to survive. I remember this happening to me a few times in ME during past playthroughs in other areas.

It is definitely worth it after the patches. It has the best combat in the series by far.

There's no question the combat in Andromeda was great.

They could at least patch that. I get nostalgia and all that, but it is pretty annoying having that problem with AI in 2021.

I see the endless shooting into the wall too sometimes. The Geth Stalker part on Therum Ashley just sat behind cover while Tali was out there dying over and over lmao. At least Tali moved where I told her to and she was useful in absorbing the shots from everything

Also, wtf is up with some of the enemy placement. Sometimes they will put enemies behind doors you have to press to open and then they slaughter you. If you open it real quick then run the door will close again. This Geth Juggernaut camped the door and killed me a few times because of how annoying it was to open the door and shoot him before it closes again

My biggest problem with Andromeda's combat was that being a Pathfinder only seemed useful without a global cooldown for abilities. Being able to go through my soldier cooldowns and then switch to vanguard or something would have been awesome. Instead, the global cooldown after switching classes was long enough that switching classes felt pointless because by the time the abilities on the new class were ready, the old ones were nearly back up.

I also didn't like not being able to issue commands to my companions (as in using their specific abilities without manually taking control of them). Those were kinda big deals for me, but I agree that overall the combat was still the best just because the movement was better than in the previous games.

The enemy camping is nuts. You have to run up on some of them and you risk getting nuked.

I haven't had any issues with the enemy placement so far but I'm sure its only a matter of time. ME1 always get me with that crap at least once a play through.

Was fun listening to my coworker who is playing the series for his first time (and absolutely loving it) raging about the krogans charging him. Was also fun listening to him realize you could change Shephards class in the begging of the game. A grave mistake I also made my first play through. The game is shit at letting you know you don't have to go soldier.

Author looks exactly as you’d imagine her

I don't see the article in the comments and I'm too lazy to find it myself, what is her reasoning behind saying that? I've seen other people demanding Kaiden be put in ME1 as a gay option for Shepard too since he is for ME3. There's really no satisfying some people, there's always something to complain about or a "I won't buy this game until you do _____" and then a group that is the exact opposite that is like "I won't buy this game if you do _____"

Gamers are a whiny bunch that's for sure lol

Gamers are a whiny bunch that's for sure lol

Only a portion of them, and they happen to be the ones with the biggest microphones and they tend to stick in our memory.

Personally, and you could check my old posts in the thread, I thought the 'Miranda Butt Controversy' was just the beginning if the changes they were making, 'but' that appears to be the extent of it - changing the camera angle of one shot in one cutscene.

Otherwise, everything else has may or may not be considered taboo by modern gaming standards hasn't been changed.

I actually bothered tracking down the article and gave it a cursory glance (morbid curiosity). She had two reasons:

1. If you don’t romance them then they’ll romance each other and that’s the “better” relationship for both of them (I don’t even know if this is accurate - I don’t remember them having any kind of relationship in the games before that I noticed and I’ve never romanced either of them)

2. By romancing them you compromise the non-romance relationship Shepherd has with either of them, ie Garus as Shepherd’s right hand man and bro, and Tali as this youthful naive protégée that looks up to Shepherd. Apparently by romancing them those types of interactions disappear in favour of romantic discussion.

Its pretty much a clickbait headline for an advice article about who to have relationships with, and not to have relationships with.

Gaming journalism outlets are so desperate for clicks.

Funny how the article doesn't also advise players to not romance Ashley or... the Jersey Shore wannabe in ME3... because they'll eventually be in a relationship as well.

Either way, its our game we buy, and those options were in the original games, and its our choices to make as Shepard, who's an avatar in Mass Effect in which the choices we make have a mass effect.

Funny though how they don't have articles saying 'Please don't be a colonizer and kill the council' or a number of other advice to have what they consider to be the best stories in our playthroughs.

Yea I never romanced either and I don't remember a relationship starting up between them two.

Weird. I wonder if I did something that prevented their relationship prompts or didn’t do something needed.

Or maybe I’m just misremembering.

I only played through ME3 once and I don't remember any of those flirty cutscenes happening. But the ME games have little bits like that that are easy to miss even for people that have played through them multiple of times over.

There's a YouTuber named Xletalis that has made over 400 videos about Witcher 3, and is STILL discovering previously unknown bits about the game.

I mean, you can literally punch a female reporter in all three games. Surprised no one's wrote an article about that.

Censoring things like that would bother me. Not fixing the camera angle on a distracting ass shot.
