LOL @ using social media followers as a measure of how much of a draw Colby is.

I don't use social media but my understanding is you don't "follow" people you dislike. He's a heel. And a 2x loser in his title fights. That isn't a great recipe for followers.

Yet, still, he gets a lot of engagement. Which means a lot of eyeballs. Plus, at what point is one not a draw? Colby's name on a card definitely helps sell it.

That being said what he has shown in the cage has lowkey made me a fan. The Kurt Angle theme the over the top pro wrestling style heel lol all of it except he takes it too far with the family shit.

Probably the most polarizing schtick in the UFC and not a fighter known for exciting finishes. That's a problem from a popularity angle.

I also deeply suspect he's annoying to be around. Which includes film crews. If people don't want to show up and film you thats gonna be a problem in raising your profile.

That said I think this fight put him in the public eye a bit more. If he has a good knockout soon that will probably change a lot for him.

I know the UFC does track social media interactions to help them gauge the popularity of fighters. I don't have an Instagram account, and I don't follow anyone on Twitter, but I do watch alot of the ol' YouTooob. Videos featuring or about Colby (just him alone) do seem to stack up pretty well compared to other fighters people consider as stars.

Might not mean much or anything at all, but it's something I have noticed.

He isn't. It's funny because he probably tries the hardest out everyone to be. He can beat most in his division but it wont be pretty.

It's working. Compared to others that don't try as hard Colby is getting the bigger push and getting bigger PPV numbers. People either are haters or fans of Colby and a lot just want to see him lose. That still equals attention/focus and eyeballs on his fights.
