I think this was the right choice for Mas. I don't know how much he made for Nate but I bet he made enough to not need the $ right now anyways. Masvidal has easier fights waiting for him for the same amount he would have got against Usman. His stock will go down if he loses his next fight so he needs to be smart. Risk to reward ratio isnt there for the Usman fight. Masvidal doesnt give a fuck about the belt, he has been fighting his whole life and wants to get paid now. Before, the belt was the only ticket to money fights. The landscape has changed and you dont need the belt to draw big numbers and get paid although the ppv buy bonus helps. Masvidal has the BMF belt already which was the equivalent to winning the ww belt for his star power. He is holding out for the McGregor fight which may or may not happen.

They will not be giving him McGregor after this. They did not like that fight a year ago, and they definitely do not like it now.
I think Masvidal set himself up to be made an example of. The one they whip publicly to warn the others. His star power is only a year old, he has many losses and is not that young. This is not a GOAT-type fighter like Jones, or a superstar like Conor. He overplayed his hand and now might pay for it. Expect him to be offered a fight with Leon Edwards exclusively for the next year.

He probably got some PPV points fighting Nate, didnt he? I mean, they headlined it, on a short span of time, made Canelo wait!!! The UFC probably offered the same, but he knew fight wouldnt sell, so the risk wasnt worthy, he knows it, his fans know it.

I’m a Masvidal fan ..... I realize he isn’t the best fighter and certain styles trouble him .....I’d much rather see him against fellow entertaining fighters than someone that will shoot for his leg 5 seconds in
