Boxing or Karate (in and out distancing)
Good call, forgot about TKDMaybe TKD as well.
It's a myth that Muay Thai is all about standing infront of each other and taking shots.
Watch technical fighters like Saenchai and Samart for ideas about evasiveness and distance control.
I don't see why you cannot learn these concepts in your MT class unless your trainers are very strict.
More specifically JKA Shotokan. Some Karate styles teach you certain aspects better than other styles within Karate & vice versa.
As far as distancing goes - JKA shotokan does the best job of teaching you distance control - within kicking/punching range.
There are other styles out there that I feel teach you good footwork & distance control besides boxing - like Yiquan.
Boxing always makes a great supplement to Karate though. Might be to much in the plate if you already do MT though.
I'd recommend boxing. It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish too though. I like footwork in MMA specifically. Fighters like Dominick Cruz have already filtered out certain footwork from different arts to use for MMA. He's able optimize some of the best ways to create distance for takedown and defensive awareness. A lot of his footwork does come from boxing.Curious to see what others opinion on this is as I'm not sure what martial art to compliment muay thai with as traditionally stood very forward and not the best at evasive and distance keeping
Any suggestions?

(This piece was one of my most visited articles from readers/practitioners wanting to learn more about footwork). Hope this was helpful.
Same with Muay thai. There are useful footwork maneuvers you can use too but I wont get into it unless you want more info.
Thanks for checking it out. Once and a while my work gets featured on The MMA community.com so people are more familiar with me there than here.Great article. I will definately read the rest of your posts on your site.

Btw, if you like the piece on Dominick Cruz's style, you might like the analysis I did on his fight with T.J. It was such an interesting fight to write about because those guys really spark creativity in the cage.
I covered details on some of his signature moves like this one. Hope you enjoy it my man.
