Hi Sherdog!

I am here to tell you about the work of Hacran Dias (UFC), Eduardo Dantas (Bellator champ) and Marlon Sandro who are working to save lives in Rio's favelas by inspiring kids through BJJ and MMA.

All these guys grew up in the Santo Amaro favela in Rio's south zone. The favela was once a stronghold for the Red Command drug cartel and shootouts between the police and rival gangs cost many young people their lives.

Marlon set up the social project to keep kids out of the gangs and lost his best friend the same year. For those that don't know, Marlon was the Sengoku champion.

There is a film crowdfunding at the moment that will highlight their work and the struggles of favela residents. Access has been arranged with the BOPE shock troops, the Drug gangs, the fighters, social project and community and they intend to begin filming in November/December. 5% of all money raised goes towards the social project.

Jose Aldo lived in Santo Amaro when he first moved to Rio and will be in the film.

This is the promo

Or even a trip to Rio to meet Jose Aldo (for two - flights and accommodation included)

This is some behind the scenes footage from Shooto Brazil:

And here are some highlights from Marlon Sandro:

And Eduardo Dantas:

Both highlights show them in Santo Amaro

Jose Aldo talks about his time there here:

There are signed posters by the fighters, goodie bags to win from BAD BOY, laptops from MSI (really great gaming laptop worth nearly $3,000), the trip to Rio and so much more.

please show your support and tweet about the film @HillOfChampions, join the facebook page for updates as they arrive and of course check out the Indiegogo campaign.

This film is about overcoming adversity and about MMA as a positive force saving lives. It is a story that transcends the sport, a universal story of the human spirit and community.

You should find a way to mention Rousey so she can move the needle for this thread.

If you donate, one of the perks is a director's cut version of the film which features a topless love scene between Ronda Rousey and a favela student she falls for during her visit.
Soooooo, yeah, don't be cheap, donate and learn something

Hahaha! No comment! Ronda looked gorgeous doing that social work, I'm embarrassed to say I used to be a hater

We have incredible prizes. Seriously. Just f****g incredible.

This is one example but every donation gets a little something in return, DVDs with extras, T-shirts etc.

thanks! Just your support is enough. If you share the project on social media you will be doing us a huge favor. We just are not getting the views we need. If you donate a small amount and then share you get the chance to win the prizes. But you liking the project is a big boost and I appreciate it a lot :D

Looking forward to getting stuck in on the ground again and back out to Santo Amaro!

Now just imagine Prime Lohan on your personalised hoodie sleeve with the Sherdog logo on the other arm.... mmmmmm Lohan.... :D

Good idea, I'll post the link on my Facebook, get at least a couple more eyeballs to see it

Haha! Thanks guys - definitely the suggestion above would smash it :D

Ronda - what a woman!

Sounds pretty cool. Payday's friday, so i'll donate something then.

Brother you are a star! Thank you! I'll keep an eye out for donations on Friday and throw something extra in the mix if at all possible. If we get past a defined amount we will have flexibility to do so. This film will be uplifting and empowering. Having spent time in Santo Amaro I promise not only will this film be good for MMA, but it will also tell a story that transcends MMA and makes us proud to be human again. This post is not very eloquent or well thought out - I just want you to know that the crew we are in talks with with blow the socks off this subject matter and do the social project, fighters and the kids justice - and the crew and sales agents we are working with mean we will hit broadcast/theatrical - thanks again

The thought of meeting Aldo makes me nervous tho... I just imagine him looking at me with that look he have the UFC cameras and me being like "uhhh... hey there... I like your fights" and his face doesn't move...

Haha! He's very friendly when you meet him and very humble. He is not intimidating at all in person and he smiles a lot - but don't ask to spar Muay Thai with him - there was a video they took down or at least I can't find with him chopping down some guy who had won a contest to sparr with him  brutal leg kicks - i think the guy must have annoyed him or perhaps it was part of the fun - but damn he chopped the kid down!
