The Frank Mir curse has haunted fighters for years, which states that if a fighter defeats Frank Mir, they will lose their next fight. There has been one survivor - Daniel Cormier.
Ian Freeman TKOed Mir at UFC 38, and was KOed in his next fight by Arlovski. 0-1
Marcio Cruz TKOed Mir at UFC 57, and was defeated in his next fight by Monson. 0-2
Brandon Vera TKOed Mir at UFC 65, and was defeated in his next fight by Sylvia. 0-3
Brock Lesnar TKOed Mir at UFC 100, HOWEVER he was facing Shane Carwin, who also beat Mir at UFC 111. One of them had to win.
Shane Carwin KOed Mir at UFC 111, but he fought Lesnar who was coming off a win over Mir as well.
Junior Dos Santos TKOed Mir at UFC 146, and was defeated in his next fight by Velasquez. 0-4
Daniel Cormier decisioned Mir at UFC on Fox Bendo vs Melendez, and won his next few fights. 1-4
Josh Barnett TKOed Mir at UFC 164, and was KOed in his next fight by Browne. 1-5
Alistair Overeem decisioned Mir at UFC 169, and was TKOed in his next fight by Rothwell. 1-6
Andrei Arlovski decisioned Mir at UFC 191, and was TKOed in his next fight by Miocic. 1-7
Mark Hunt KOed Mir at UFN Hunt vs Mir, and lost to Brock Lesnar by decision at UFC 200. 1-8
Overall, victors over Frank Mir have gone 1-8 in their next fight after beating Mir. As the Eminem Curse has slowly gravitated back towards .500, and the Nam Phan curse was debunked for reasons, this is the next big curse to watch out for. Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin had both defeated Mir in their last fights prior to matching up, so someone had to win. They cancel each other out.
As Frank Mir is still under investigation for taking PEDs, it is unclear if the curse will be able to continue. As of now, he still faces a two year ban, and has requested release from the UFC, where he would be free to unleash his curse on other fighters in promotions not subject to US commissions.
