Social March for Australia protests

Why are people still defending mass immigration?

There's a huge difference between getting skilled workers for jobs you don't have enough of (i.e. actual nurses, doctors, engineers) and uneducated third world scum that wants to destroy and take-over your country / abuse its social system.

What countries is Australia taken in from?

Australia has one of the strictest immigration policies in the world lol

I know so many people that got deported because they couldn’t meet the points criteria while having full time jobs earning 100k plus. Most migrants that come have money and work

You seem to have no idea what you are talking about
Strict immigration policy perhaps, but their refugee policy takes the worst such as Syrians. They cause a lot of problems in the West. Even many people in Turkey are sick of em.

There are barely any Syrians in Australia lol

The biggest foreign population in Australia is from the UK then India then China and a lot of south East Asian and European countries.

Tbh I have no idea why people are even mad. I remember people who hated Greeks then south East Asians then lebos then sudos and now Indians

It’s even funnier watching the immigrants before the Indians march in the same march hating the new wave while forgetting their own history

So? They still have 55k of them and that's how you guys always defend it. It's only a small percent of the population blabla, but we know they keep incoming and reproduce like rabbits. So in 10 years you'll have 200k of them if not more. They're causing problems everywhere they are.

Tell me why Turkey soured on Syrians despite having the same religion and being neighbors?

Immigrants are coming into countries making no attempt to integrate. They refuse to learn the language of the country they currently live in and won't follow the laws.

Leftists defending mass immigration are the reason their parties are losing approval.

Sudanese, we've had quite a bit of African immigration of recent years.

Yes unfortunately, the home invasions are a big problem. And my home state bans machetes, that's about all they've done
unfortunately, despite having migration transition programs and orgs specifically set up to assist African refugees fleeing war zones and humanitarian crises, social housing programs, justice reforms, it's not enough.

Lots of over-representation of these folks in the criminal justice system. Lots of mental health issues, making the housing element unstable, reducing the ability to navigate these resources and a general distrust of government impedes engagement.

Need to keep trying, but different approaches need to be incorporated into a holistic plan.

The problem is having the Nazi fuckwits hitch their wagon to these protests distracts anyone from listening to legitimate concerns about immigration, some of which you've outlined.

well, there's job based migration and then there are refugees, depends on what people are talking about. The refugee issues come from international law where different countries agree to be an entry point to receive and then redirect refugees all over the world. So the Sudanese might seek refuge in Egypt originally before being moved to Australia. There's a lot of cooperation and trading of responsibilities between countries (Trump famously got angry with Turnbull about taking our refugees). The Sudanese largely come from refugee programs from 20 years ago. So support is in place, but I don't think it was suffiicient and the mistakes of yesteryear are bearing consequences now as those kids that came as refugees are in their 20s and 30s and struggling.

Migration is about Australia trying to become immediately competitive in global markets and deal with skill shortages. Far more control there, especially being an island so there's no border to consider. To me, there's a tradeoff. We also need to be making sure that we are investing in our young people to compete in the workforce, by offering sufficient access to tiertiary education and TAFE courses. I think for the most part it's good, way better than what I saw in America, but it could be better re CSP places. I think retaining the "fair go" is essential to the Australian ethos of having an egalitarian society.

As for those that want a homogeneous culture, that's not my bag. I like having folks from all over. I've been hearing "spot the Aussie" from people for a long time, including family members, but I'm not on board with all that.

Again it's a much more nuanced discussion than just "hey tere is to much imigrashon". Taking refugees is one thing, managing them is the difficult bit.

And the skill shortage is a key thing, I've worked on some big projects and many of the companies are either foreign themselves or have a great deal of foreigners. The tolling system for our payway down here was built by Spaniards, no one here could have done it for that price, they were experts.

And yeah for one we need other cultures for the cuisine, there's not much actual Aussie cuisine. I work near Richmond in Melbourne and the Viets coming here in the 80s sure did bring their food, heaps of great restaurants in Richmond.
