Man Overeem could have had one last title shot if the ref didn’t stop that Jairzinho fight

No because one knockdown isn't enough to get a 10-8 in MMA. Rozenstruick would win the round 10-9 and lose a UD. This isn't boxing.

Rozenstruik was winning the 5th round quite clearly, and the KD was a big one with heavy damage. Pretty clear 10-8.

This is a weird one. It was very clear that Overeem was done, he fell into a position that left him wide open to get killed by another punch. Then again, Rozenstruik decided one punch was enough and started walking away and Overeem could have survived 5 more seconds. I don't think it was a bad call by Miragliotta, Overeem was done, but had he not stopped it, it would have taken more than 5 seconds for Rozenstruik to walk back and KO Overeem.

Don't blame the ref here, blame Overeem for messing up. One of the worst endings of a fight is when a fighter is losing up until the very final seconds and lands a hail mary KO puncy/sub like Lewis, Rozenstruik, that Mexican guy vs Zombie, Alves vs Kampmann etc. The fault of course lies in the opponent making an error, but it sucks when the inferior fighters wins due to a single mistake in the very last seconds of the fight.

Not the way most MMA judges score fights, they tend to be pretty stingy with 10-8s. It was a pretty tame round before the KO. Some people in the crowd were booing.

reem is prone to getting knocked out from pretty much everyone, and he’s more likely to gas defending takedowns from stipe. he’d at least have a chance against nggano.

No it wasn't. Rozenstruik won the 4th quite clearly and was winning the 5th before the KD.

Anyway, it's not even an opinion: the scorecards have been released and were heading towards a majority draw in the event of a 10-8 for Jarzinho in the 5th round.

Look at how Overeem just sat down flat on his ass with his hands planted on the floor. What do you think Jairzinho’s next move would have been if there was no ref to stop it? 65 unanswered punches to the dome. If you’ve watched Overeem’s fights, you just know that he would have been finished completely from the first three of those. Justified stoppage, imo.
