Making Silva-DC a non-title fight is the height of stupidity. What if Silva wins?

Then you have another mess on your hands and dispute at 205...so dumb. Sick of UFC stupidity in matchmaking after this and Diaz-McGregor 2.

Also if Anderson beats DC he will have effectively come back from his suspension and beat the 205 champ and damn near/disputably beat the 185 champ while never getting finished. Does that make him GOAT again?

Dana said he will probably get a title shot at 185 if he wins.

I grew up as a pro wrestling fan, and I actually thought their way of doing things made sense. If someone doesn't truly deserve the title shot, the fight should be Non-Title and they get a shot with a victory. Bisping being a UFC champion is a complete joke and destroys the credibility of that division. And why? Because they had to give an undeserved title shot to save a card? Non-title matches make sense to me.

who cares!!!!!

the card is better with Silva Vs Cormier

No??!

Yup, Pride had non-title fights with the champions. It keeps him active and if the champ loses, it builds a new star and creates some excitement in the division.

I wish it was a title shot because if Silva wins that would indeed be messy. Cormier's credibility as LHW champ would be completely destroyed. And yes if Andeson Silva does when I think it will change the GOAT discussion. You can't deny him any more if he wins against these odds especially if you compare him to Fedor.

A title fight would obviously be better, but Anderson's not in shape for a 5 rounder. Given the circumstances it's still a great matchup.

They don't think it will happen… But the UFC Gods are assholes. They will find a way for Anderson to win just to stir the pot.

they're probably mildly concerned in case Anderson pops for something (I'm only saying this due to his 1x fail), this way DC keeps the belt.

also, maybe Anderson Silva camp highly preferred a 3 rounder over a 25 minute fight against a big LHW.

so if you beat the champ that win doesn't count ? this fight should be for LHW belt

if Anderson wins, and then pops AGAIN - that would be a worst case CATASTROPHE for the UFC at 205 lol. And they'll deserve it for their stupid matchmaking.

Yeah, I dont get that either. Chael got a fake title shot LHW also after getting beat down by Rashad. Give Spider a title shot. Make this the headliner.

Title fights are 5 rounds.

Silva can't go 5 rounds, so they cannot have a title fight. That part is entirely uncomplicated.

This is a windfall payday for Silva - they last fought him on FightPass. That is where he is at these days. This is a mismatch but he's going to make millions.

Well, no.

Sonnen lost the rematch to Silva, then was booked against Jones on TUF. Two fights later, he would lose to Rashad, which turned out to be his retirement fight.

Also worth noting it was a perfect storm of events that lead to Sonnen getting that fight - the UFC very appropriately booked Jones -vs- Hendo (coming over as StrikeForce champion) and Sonnen -vs- Griffin.

Hendo famously kept his injury a secret until the last minute, and Lyoto Machida famously refused to take the fight on short notice. It is only after Jones is injured by Belfort in the holding fight they booked, that he is shelved and put on TUF with Sonnen since he's out of competition.

Why must it be 5 rounds to make it a title fight?
