I think belal was better than youre giving him creadit for the UFC just farmed his prime away giving colby and mas title shots. From age 34 to 36 belal probably could have had a nice 3-4 fight run as champion.

Yep. Brazilans have been fighting each other since the early days of the sport. So have American wrestlers, even though some of them knew each other since college wrestling days and were probably friends. I'm getting tired of this stuff like Khamzat and Imanov not wanting to fight, Belal not wanting to fight other Muslims, etc.

Both Islam and Belal are perfectly willing to fight other Muslim fighters.

In regards to both of them, they have a relationship and mutual connections.

Makhachev had been talking about moving up to 170 lbs for a while & likely would have if Leon had beaten Belal, but when Belal became champion he straight up refused to fight Makhachev while Makhachev at first entertaining the idea but later Javier Mendez said they trained together and won't fight.

I don't dislike Belal Muhammad but he seems to have changed his tune since Makhachev became Champion, Belal now says it's a sport and if he got the opportunity he won't say no to a title fight.

Now he has also thrown Islam under the bus saying he wants to fight Kamaru because it's an easier fight and Ali, Usman & Makhachev are pushing it together.

What he's saying is true but it's a little scummy of Belal Muhammad to earlier pretend that he's best friends with Makhachev when he was champion and now that Makhachev is the champion he's open to fight him & indirectly calling him a duck.

If Makhachev had moved up to fight Belal he would have raked up atleast a couple of welterweight defences but he fell for belals brotherhood gimmick.

i don't understand why this is a conversation. you HAVE to fight the champion if you can. it doesn't matter if the champ is your best friend. makhachev would have eventually had to fight belal anyway if he didn't lose to jdm.

An individual sport that relies on working with people to help you hone your skills. Fighting somebody that knows all of your abilities first hand, your bad habits, weaknesses etc is just bad business.

It's why we've rarely seen training partners fight each other.
