Rumored Makhachaev vs Volkanovski is almost a done.

I'm excited to see this, P4P #1 moving up to challenge the new unbeatable smeshman.

People keep talking about Volk's size but it's just his height. The man can carry 200 lbs if necessary. It's not like we haven't seen a bunch of FWs move up for better success; Poirier, Hooker, Oliveira to name a few.

This is great for volk.

Lets be real here, none of his fights really sell. He has been labelled a "boring" fighter.

Going up against Makhachev just changes the whole dynamic, for both of them.

Makes sense since Islam just fought in Abu Dhabi he can fight in Australia to defend his title against Volk. I think Volk is going to get strangled but I could be wrong. It would be great if this fight is competitive.

I don't get the logic lol

true, and I'm intrigued by the matchup. but Volk needs to go full Muscle Shark to really stand a chance

A superfight should be when 2 long reigning champs finally meet. Islam just won the title and suddenly fighting the champ 1 class down is superfight?

Islam had the crowd with him against Oliveira and here the crowd will be against him against Volk. It shows Islam isn't scared to step into his opponents home territory. I think Islam's grappling and size will be too much for Volk. I expect the fight to be one sided so if the fight ends up being competitive that would be good.

Moving up takes more than a couple months, he hasnt comitted to Lightweight hes leaving the door open to going back down with a loss so your comparisons are irrelevant. He might have been 200lbs during his rugby days but he's visibly a lot smaller than Islam and isn't a hitter on the feet.
