Such an awesome match. I like them both, but I'm rooting for Brown here. He's a fucking beast, I always rewatch his matches with Erick Silva, Mein, etc to pump myself when I'm down.

Of course Maia is the favourite here, he'll be shooting them single legs from kilometers away and when he grabs on something he'll go for it like a motherfucker. And on the ground we all know his credentials.

Matt Brown however improved a lot through the years. He really refined his game in all aspects and talking about his grappling skills, he's not the same guy that was tapped out occasionally, he proved he can hang with the elite against Erick Silva who is a black belt (granted he is not on Maia's level, but still that's no joke). He also had some preparation with Jake Shields as far as I know which is good for him I guess.

Matt Brown has the tools to win, in my opinion. He either has to survive the early grappling fury and destroy him in the later rounds ala Rory MacDonald or go early for the pressure and try to execute him like he did to Pyle.

I'm very excited for this match up, what about you guys?

No

Easy fight.

Make Hendricks vs Maia, that would be a great fight

Maia likely strangles him. Definitely looking forward to it though.

Not excited that much as the result seems too obvious here. Of course its mma and anything might happen but that seems like a waste of a fight for Brown.

Maia sub RD1. But Brown could make things very gritty and nasty.

It's a very exciting matchup in my opinion, but it has the potential to be very one sided in favour of Maia. I'm more interested in Silva v Hall to be honest.

I fully expect Maia to take Brown down and submit him. Unless Matt has somehow greatly improved his TDD.

Could be a bad night for Brown, but he certainly has the heart to pull off an upset. Unless Brown can hurt Maia, he will be in constant, serious danger.

Most of Brown's losses are by a Submission and he's pitted against a BJJ specialist. Do the MMA Math on this one...

Brown is NO where near Maia's level grappling wise. We all know how good Nelson's BJJ is and Maia owned him. If Brown goes down he might survive, but still loses badly. Remember there is also extra motivation for Maia since its in Brazil. Should be interesting.

No, unless Matt can keep the fight standing it will be pretty one sided.

Same. Watching Maia fight is a blessing.

Anything Maia is amazing. I blew my load waiting for the Ferguson/Khabib that never happened. So this was the second in line for me. I can't wait.

Brown is a fighter I've always felt the need to bet on because I always felt he could possibly win most fights.

I chose him to win the Hendricks fight and he lost, but I don't regret it.

I love Matt & believe he can clip him before it goes to the ground. But i'm still nervous, hah.

I'm most looking forward to some Werdum Tiiiiiime!

Yeah I think 1st round submission. Maia's takedowns and skill. If he can do what he did to Gunnar.... I don't give a fuck how improved Brown is on the ground.

Maia by submission only +150. Odds makers don't want you making much on this one.

I feel like people are sleeping on Brown. Hopefully he stays away from the ground or he might just get slept as well.

Maia by submission is +150? because I would definitely drop money on that! Or did you mean -150?
