Well his initial shots are usually single legs before he does his other chain transitions. Wrestling technically isn't the only discipline with thee types of takedowns, but very good defensive wrestling will absolutely help, no?

Time to put Usman's zero percent tdd to the test. Usman also sucks at striking while moving backwards and his first reaction to being pressured is to shoot for a takedown. Maia Always pressures, well until he gasses. It's winnable for Maia when he's fresh.

Usman hates being pressured. Anytime someone pressures him, his striking turns to shit and he looks for take-downs. Maia usually pressures immediately until he gets the clinch. I worry that Maia might be conservative in the fight, though, due to the short notice call up and scarcity of cardio.

D1, D2, Juco etc. really isn't as important in wrestling as basketball or football. Brock, Colby, King Mo etc. all started in Juco before transferring.

JUCO is a lot different from D2, D3, or NAIA. Many studs start in JUCO due to poor grades then transfer to elite D1's. There's a definite drop off from D1 to D2 and 3.

Really hope so, Usman is unbearable. Listening to any of his interviews makes you wish someone would come and just end his career already (which of course I still don't wish upon him, it's his livelihood after all). Such an unlikeable human being, definitely not something the sport needs more of.

Seriously tho, who has Usman faced? He’s a decorated D2 wrestler who made his pro debut in 2012. Usman is reliant on his wrestling and against a competent submission specialist like Maia he’s gonna get caught.
