Magic the Gathering removes "racist" cards from its library

You are entombing yourself in a partisan echo chamber if you can't step back, look at this, and realize how draconian this movement has become.

It's a game. You literally summon devils, demons, and other agents of evil, chaos, or destruction to your side in some decks. You cast enchantments that control creatures against their will. That's slavery. Now you can't do that? Cool, wipe those cards out. Hey, I noticed the cards where you "sacrifice" a creature still remain. Hmm, that's pretty Old Testament, isn't it?

It's insane because I remember when I was a kid the whackos were the crazy Christians. There were some kids in my town whose parents literally wouldn't let them play this card because it had "witchcraft". Some were Mormon, some were Pentecostal, some were just your garden variety non-denominational revivalists. Yet I don't recall any of them or their parents demanding that Wizards of the Coast not be allowed to exist, or demanding for the company to change its demonic business. They didn't seek to intimidate businesses or lawmakers. They simply didn't buy the cards.

This radical new left is vastly more toxic and intolerant than even the batty Christians of my youth. It blows my mind. The moderates and the mainstream leftists seem willing to make a deal with this devil, because they calculate they'll get them what it wants, but I don't think they're wisely exploring the full repercussions of this Faustian deal.
lol damn what an early morning gift this rant was.
Going great with my tea.

Bro it's a trading card company trying to stay alive in a digital world with rapidly changing demographics relying on crazies like you to promote this absurdly insignificant news event.

Madmick is right. You're a sucker bending over and rearing your butt for a cultural revolution to sodomize you

no, they aren't doing that to capitalize on the potential marketing of the BLM protests and stay relevant!

I think you mean:

And some Museums.

It's almost as if these are companies looking to cater to public sentiment...

If companies do this of their own accord, what is the issue?
If I want to continue to sell more of my 30 year old nerd game in 2020 and beyond to a diverse group of people, then taking a look at it every few years to make sure I don't have some offensive or out of fashion "Retarded ass goblin", or "Midget tranny Succubus" card in the rotation sounds like a pretty good business move.
You guys will cry about anything.

That's right, it's not the people going through every book, movie, old social media posts, card game, joke, book, literal dictionary definitions, doctors who contradicted WHO, and were subsequently validated, commercials and songs to find something with which they can take umbrage so they can censor and remove anything that hurts their feelings, it's the people who notice it that are the snowflakes.

It's always the same with you idiots. Claim nobody is trying to censor or remove anything, then 5 minutes later have to go through individually with "that show sucks anyway, I like the new definition better, you don't need that song or that book, that movie was offensive, nobody needs to play that game". Grow some balls and defend your position of book burning based on hurt feelings instead of looking like an idiot having to defend something you claimed didn't exist.

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

1984 wasn't written as a handbook, but don't worry, that'll be called racist and banned too.

"Public sentiment" aka Twitter mob
lmao the only tweet in this entire thread is from some random dude named Tim Pool who became a demi-god to right wing bros from his tweets.

Did you really equate a press release about modding an old card game drawing with book burning?
Jesus this thread. MTGDS

Probably shouldn't draw attention to themselves.
Admitting fault only riles the mob up.

Makes me a lil sad though. I loved that game when I was a kid.

Lol. Anyone remember when it was the right taking shots at M:tG for being 'satanic'?
How do these loons not see what they've become?

Remember it well. I was in 5th grade at the time and I can remember wanting all of the cards and my mom saying that she heard it was a game for conjuring evil or something haha.

Do you have a good argument as to why those things aren't similar?

A large part of the lefts strategy is just blatantly lying about their actions as they do them. When they censor something, they always claim it isn't censorship.

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. This quote is so scary because of how true it is. We don't even have a sense of history of 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago the press was deriding people walking in the park with their family, telling us we were all going to die of coronavirus if states let us leave our homes. Now, it is a moral imperative to leave your home and protest the Nazi police officers. Don't even start thinking back further than that, such as when they told us Trump was starting WW3 with Iran, or before that when they told us a holocaust was happening at the border. They tell you everyday that some new event is unprecedented, and that its one of the most important moments of ours lives, only to memory hole it completely a week later. We are just support to forget that a month ago Amaud Arbery was used as an example of how vigilantism is racist and immoral, and we were told those men should have just called the police and backed off. Now we are being told that "community policing" is the future, and that actual police should be disbanded. Amaud has been memory-holed, or at least his record as been subtly edited, so that his name now appears on memorials of victims killed by the police.

I almost failed grade 8 because I was so obsessed with MTG. I started playing when 4th Edition, Ice Age and Homelands were released. I remember Baron Sengir was a cool card to have, but like most of Homelands, it was not a very effective card later on.

At the end of the day this is a card game. This isn't a top priority or one of the most pressing issues facing humanity. I didn't say that it was. Yet, it's important to pay attention to what stories like this signify. These aren't isolated headlines. We have been inundated with similar stories in the past few weeks, and the worst are quite appalling; like the suspension of Sacramento Kings announcer Grant Napear.

Yet observe the comments of the hostile leftists in this thread who implicitly or explicitly support this action. Notice what it reveals about them, and the fact that they are willing to enable this despite knowing it isn't justifiable-- no matter how trivial.
This is what is going to get Trump re-elected!
Yeah, he'll put a stop to this! Oh wait....
Off-topic strawmen.
Seems like it was a great idea considering they got some middle aged dude to advertise their product online for free out of rage.
No more Gone with the wind or magic the gathering. What will you do with your time.. Ohh that´s right, spend it whining on Sherdog.
Or plan/fantasize about the coming race war .
Ad hominem. Not even attempting to address the topic or form a counterargument.

These are the only pro-censorship posts that even pretend to offer a justification, and both predicate their argument on the all too commonly abused "good business" rationale for the insanity we've seen from trembling corporations caving to this intolerant leftist mob. The problem is they forget to demonstrate how the existence of these cards contributed to bad business. They've been around for decades. Is there an iota of evidence Magic: The Gathering been struggling due to a consumer boycott of their cards over insensitive imagery? Of course not! The company has been doing phenomenally well:
'Magic: The Gathering' Leads Hasbro's Second-Quarter Earnings

Do not be mistaken. These misguided arguments and personal attacks betray their support for the most vicious and irrational casualties of this purity test-- this witch hunt. It's precisely this ignorance which boils the frog. One can mock this, but obviously one can't logically defend it, and that speaks to something sinister festering even in the most seemingly trivial stories laid as collateral in the wake of this snowballing monster. If you don't confront it before it's too late, soon it's too large to be stopped, and you are merely fuel to be consumed as its madness motors on.

Sengir Vampire was the staple in decks.

No, this is what happens when you don't take care of an issue, eventually someone will attempt to take care of it for you. Maybe you won't like how they do it, but your time to nip it in the bud has long passed. I think what they are doing is silly, btw, but I'm not surprised the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.
