I was a big fan of this game in the arcades growing up. I loved this game. I was very intrigued by the idea of making it to the top of the tower, i loved the music when you beat a level and ascended... and i loved that you could free different imprisoned characters, and they would be your sidekick for as long as you could hold them.

Kinda like Golden Axe, maybe not as good, but incredible setting, and intriguing concept.

Now that I emulated the game, and knew better, I see the dastardly quarter munching tactics, and that all the stages are basically the same, with some boss fights to break up the monotony.

I would love to see a more fleshed out version of this game, with the concept of ascending the tower. Some castlevania shit.

Any magic sword fans??

Damn, I forgot I had the SNES version, also loved the arcade one. Wish I could remember more about it other than that it felt like a platformer version of the later DnD arcade game.
The arcade version is in one of those Capcom compilations for all the modern systems and PC.

I need to sit down and play through this game sometime. I never played in the arcade, but I tried it via emulation before and really liked the gameplay and concept. Have you ever played Black Tiger, @HHJ? Somewhat similar Capcom arcade game, like a precursor to Magic Sword.
