They weren't that overambitious. Price is 49€ across platforms: a standard ask in 2025 for AA titles.

I haven't played this one but purchased Mafia DE a while back because everyone seemed to love it. Man it was cutscene after cutscene. The worst part is that gameplay was so damn basic and each chapter felt like it was over just as I started. Seems like this game is more of the same.

I do like Linear games like this from time to time but they still have to be a good game.

They cut so much of the original Mafia game out of the Mafia DE remake, I still enjoyed it but when it was over I was like what the heck, wheres all the trucking side missions, the ports under the bridge, the airport shootout, etc.

It was not a great representation of how much fun the original was back in the olden console days

Jokes aside, I'm glad I see posts like these because I did consider it but there's just way too many better games coming out. I've got Shinobi this week and depending on reviews I'll either go for Lost Soul Aside or Cronos The New Dawn next. Leaning towards the latter because I have more faith in it being a good game. Silent Hill 2 was one of my few 10/10 games this gen.

I was hoping it would be more like Uncharted with plenty of cutscenes but also real gameplay sections that last a while. People say Sony games are walking simulators but apparently they're nothing like this game from what I've heard.

Definitely not worth it at full price. Easy button mashing followed by a cutscene every few minutes. I’m on chapter 3 wondering when does the real action start? Would pay from $15-20,that’s about it. The visuals are great though it’s about the only thing I care for so far.

Skipping the battlefield fomo and pre ordered Mafia:Old country instead. I’ve played 1 before and liked it so can’t wait to get into it. Michael Franzese gives it a thumbs up for authenticity (whatever that’s worth).

He felt strongly about the Sopranos while admitting he didn't watch past the first season.

So I don't put a whole lot of stock into what he says.

Bought the game and spent a few hours on it.

Holy shit what an awful game. Lots of stupid dialogue, predictable plot. And gameplay where you can hardly do anything but ride a horse. Gunplay is stupid.

I can't remember what it's like playing Mafia 2, must have been 10 or more years ago now. I'll give this a couple of more hours but I'll probably quit. This antiquated play style is a stinker.

I'm glad someone said this. Supporters have argued that the game is a 'slow burn' and it takes it's time to bring you into the plot. But the plot is basic, boring, cliche, short and like you say predictable. I feel like I've seen this story 5 times already, it's nothing special.
