...and hypergamy strikes again!
For those not up to speed, after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his ex-wife Mackenzie Scott (formerly Mrs. Bezos) got a divorce (amidst Jeff's affair), she married Dan Jewett, a science teacher at the school that her children attend. Mackenzie Scott has now filed for divorce against Jewett - who did not contest the divorce.
From the article:
"In the past week his name vanished from her philanthropic endeavors. On the site for the Giving Pledge, where billionaires promise to give away half of their wealth before they die, his letter no longer appeared with hers." (Damn)
This was a bit of an odd pairing, for Mackenzie - whose net worth is over 33 billion USD - to be married to a science teacher, who is not much of a looker either.
In any case, the reason I brought up hypergamy is because I suspect Mackenzie will always be chasing the white whale. It must be impossible to go from married to the richest man in the world to trying to find another dude. The standards are now impossible and no guy will ever be able to fulfill them. Her "rebound" marriage lasting as short as it did should come as no surprise.
Not to mention women tend not to do very well with men they out-earn - it's a big psychological thing. Her love life is likely going to struggle indefinitely if I had to bet on it.

“It is strange to be writing a letter indicating I plan to give away the majority of my wealth during my lifetime, as I have never sought to gather the kind of wealth required to feel like saying such a thing would have particular meaning. I have been a teacher for the majority of my life, as well as a grateful student of the generosity of those around me. This has meant doing my best to follow their example by passing on resources of all kinds—from time, to energy, to material possessions—when I have had them to give. And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know—and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others.”
