Mackenzie Dern >>> Ronda

ronda.gif
People still hating on Ronda after all these years, some things never change I guess.

During her reign, she was a wrecking machine. Sure the level was lower, but raising it is what pioneers are for. Mackenzie Dern doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Ronda at this point - but she's got time.

Dern's best win is, by a pretty wide margin, Randa Markos. You can't possibly think that it is better than Tate x2, Zingano (undefeated at the time and just gave Nunes her last loss), Kaufman back in 2012, an undefeated McMann...

Dern doesn't have the right work ethic to reach the top in MMA (where the competition has increased a lot), I don't think she will be able improve her main problem : the lack of wrestling.

Mackenzie Dern says MMA Lab coach asked her to leave the team

“I’m not just training. I’m not the person that the next day I’m back in the academy,” Dern said. “I like to be able to be on the beach and relax and miss to be on the mats and want to be on the mats. I don’t like to feel the pressure to be on the mats."

She pivots her right foot instead of her left foot on the left hook. Very minimum body mechanics for the sake of landing more combos with speed. She still looks bad.

Honestly, I don’t even know how you can pivot your right foot on a left hook.......try it.......

Can someone slow down the gif? I think she is pivoting her right foot on the left hook.

I'm not sure what you are talking about because she isn't pivoting in those gifs at all. Transferring your bodyweight while punching is not pivoting. A pivot is when the front foot (left if orthodox/right if southpaw) remains planted and works as a point of rotation while the back foot swings around in a half-circle.

Vitali took bombs from Lewis that stopped elite level HWs and didn't go down.

No way either Klitschko in their primes would get stopped early by Ali.

I suggest that you actually watch these guys fight.

yep the prime klitskos would be 50/50 vs any heavyweight. peeps are crazy disrespectful!!! wlad was like 10 years undefeated taking on all challengers, to the point americans were crying and making up excuses that it was boring. lol

in regards to ronda, she was special. no matter what haters are trying to tell me. she finished so many fighters so fast and in such exciting fashion, i have to respect that. besides cyborg she didnt duck anyone...

it is practically impossible to have the stats she has while fighting someone of the same gender and same weightclass...

her dominance in her weightclass is exclusive to me!!! but hey hate is blinding...

Dern definitely hits harder. She uses power punching. People think looping punches aren't technical, but all power punchers use looping punches. There is a thing called being a technical power puncher and it's knowing when to use those looping shots. Because the angles are different with those shots you mix them in with the straight and tighter shots to change the angle enough to pass the defense/guard/timing/slip/etc. All the top power punchers are technical power punchers in boxing. Even Wilder, he knows when to use his wild shots. He mixes them up with his textbook cross.
Did ronda “use power punching” when she knocked out bethe? Or stunned Davis (leading to finish)?

Saying dern definitely hits harder because she uses power punching is a bit simplistic.

She pivots her back foot towards the end of the bottom gif. I know what a pivot is. You’re explaining a pivot for a cross. You pivot your front foot on a hook.

She still would beat the shit out of most of these recent top 30 fighters from 125 to 145 on the feet under edmond & she atleast showed great potential to get better with real dedication & top coaching

Like none of this matters right now putting up these videos & gifs analyzing ronda training striking or posting gifs of her shadow boxing is a waste if time

Especially mentioning pivots & shit

Shevchenko, GDR & holm are & were top kickboxers & boxers training & fighting professional since they were teenagers, hell even nunes was training boxing at 16 & hits very hard its a reason they're ahead of everybody now

I love both of them. Dern is absolutely the hotter of the two but Rhonda was finishing everyone in the first round and most in the first minute. She went through a Olympic Gold Medalist in wrestling in seconds. I look forward to what Dern May accomplish in the future but she is no where near Rhonda’s level of popularity, invincibility and marketability when she was undefeated.

Dern vs Ronda would actually be a pretty fun fight. Dern’s striking is poor but so is Ronda’s. BJJ belts are severely overrated but they would probably be pretty even on the ground but I would bet on Ronda.

I’m not saying her form is correct. It’s possible to do. It’s just useless. Which is my point. She’s throwing a loopy left arm punch while pivoting her right foot.

I’m saying she’s not doing it. You literally can only do it if you practice to do it completely wrong. It’s not a natural movement that would need to be drilled completely opposite to natural movement at the obvious expense of speed, power and balance. Not pivoting is one thing. Pivoting in the opposite direction is another.

Well sure. Cyborg was the greatest ever in every aspect of the game before Ronda even thought of fighting.

the same thing with Cain Velasquez. He had 8 fights and he was the goat.
Weidman the goat.
Holloway the goat.
henry the goat with 13 fights.
Figuierda the goat.
Conor the goat with 16 fights.
Garbrandt the goat with 14 fights.
Dillashaw the goat with however many fights he had.
Khazmat will be the goat with his 9 fights.
David Terrell the goat with 10 fights.
brandon Vera a possible goat with 15 fights.
Paul bunetello one of the best hw. Out there.
Beth Correira. Sara McMahon. Jessica eye. Etc etc. etc. Worth paying for and championship level fighters.
Rose as one of the most mentally strongest fighters in the sport.
Stipe is the greatest heavyweight with 18 fights.
Holloway is the goat
And Volkanowski.
these are all time goats of divisions.

Just like the media and social media. The ones haven’t seen for themselves minds are formed of whatever the loudest voice is out there.

ufc has always warped so many mma fans minds. They really haven’t even seen the fights. And are experts of the history of the sport in just a couple of years and have a proper perspective on the sport.
Brock was the best hw on the planet with 5 fights.
I could go on and on and on with the greatest ever in the eyes of the ufc only promotion.

These fuckers use "GOAT" as an adjective. It's sad.

She was a white belt by the time the fight went to the ground....:)

BB from her husband lol.

It was mentioned that Rhonda hasn’t grappled anyone above purple belt, but this isn’t true. Alexis is a decent black belt and has competed with some great competition. She was a black belt at the time they fought, just found herself in a shitty position. Here she is grappling Kyra Gracie.

But how is it a pivot if she stays in front of edmond all the time. If you pivot you change your angle. I think I know what you mean but its like we talking about different gifs.

Yes im aware my comment was offtopic and I probably should stay in the boxing sub with stuff like that. My bad.

Pivot here is turning your foot with your body as you punch to generate power and balance.

To me, one of the biggest differences between Dern and Rousey is that, up until the Holm fight, Rousey was able to impose her game on her opponents. Dern has not shown the takedown acumen thus far to do the same. If she meets a striker with good takedown defense, she’ll likely get beaten again.

This is an old interview, her motivation changed after having her daughter.

Her striking is better better each fight though.
