Mackenzie Dern >>> Ronda

Nunes is so much above those two lol, it's not even close

She almost murdered Ronda, and would absolutly fucked up Dern too

Most of UFCs current roster would grind Royce Gracie into a paste, that doesn't mean he wasn't a great fighter and his legacy undeniable. Pelé would never be able to keep up with the pace of modern football, but is still one of the greatest ever. I am fairly confident that either Klitschko-brother would outpoint Ali.

Ronda was awesome and by far the most influential fighter of the modern era as far as leaving her mark on the sport. Mackenzie Dern is good, but if she retires tomorrow, nobody will be talking about her four years after her last fight.

Throat punch pic.

nasty 70 yo thighs, poor Travis

So, it was pretty disgusting what people were saying about Ronda at her peak. Like people like Joe Rogan, you know, but I guess they sure changed their tune fast. I mean I'm sure people who will reply to this thread are one of those people too, you know. Talking about how great she was back then, but now she was never good.

Ronda never tapped a fighter above a purple belt in BJJ in MMA. Ashley Yoder whom Dern went to a decision against has higher BJJ than everyone Ronda fought aside from
Nunez who pushed her shit in. By the way, Tate and Zingano a purple belt, so was Carmouche when she fought Ronda.

I think people forget Rogan is just a comedian who got his black belt, just like Ashton Kutcher who will eventually get his black belt too and put too much weight on what he says sometimes.

I think Dern is a way better fighter than Ronda, so is Ribas. Not to mention, these girls are much better looking than Ronda will ever be, if that matters. I just don't get it, there are these great fighters who are better at actual fighting and has better grappling than Ronda but doesn't get half as much hype as Ronda used to.
Very well said! I couldn't agree more! Thanks for a great post!

Well sure. Cyborg was the greatest ever in every aspect of the game before Ronda even thought of fighting.

the same thing with Cain Velasquez. He had 8 fights and he was the goat.
Weidman the goat.
Holloway the goat.
henry the goat with 13 fights.
Figuierda the goat.
Conor the goat with 16 fights.
Garbrandt the goat with 14 fights.
Dillashaw the goat with however many fights he had.
Khazmat will be the goat with his 9 fights.
David Terrell the goat with 10 fights.
brandon Vera a possible goat with 15 fights.
Paul bunetello one of the best hw. Out there.
Beth Correira. Sara McMahon. Jessica eye. Etc etc. etc. Worth paying for and championship level fighters.
Rose as one of the most mentally strongest fighters in the sport.
Stipe is the greatest heavyweight with 18 fights.
Holloway is the goat
And Volkanowski.
these are all time goats of divisions.

Just like the media and social media. The ones haven’t seen for themselves minds are formed of whatever the loudest voice is out there.

ufc has always warped so many mma fans minds. They really haven’t even seen the fights. And are experts of the history of the sport in just a couple of years and have a proper perspective on the sport.
Brock was the best hw on the planet with 5 fights.
I could go on and on and on with the greatest ever in the eyes of the ufc only promotion.

Ronda headlined the first ever WMMA main event and was the first ever women's champ in ufc. And she broke a lot of records (regardless of the belt level). Ive seen her at her best and her worst, I know why people hate her.

The talent pool has surpassed her. More attractive fighters are emerging. That doesn't take away from what she's done though. It would be like saying Demien Maia is far better that Royce Gracie

Well, you might have a few good points, but neither Klitchko would last three rounds with Ali. In fact, I believe he is still by far the GOAT!!

Some good opinions. I endorse this post.

lot of these bjj belts are given out from the bottom of a cereal box

Apart from Liston, Ali never finished anybody good inside three rounds.

Dern is a BJJ artist, not a judo fighter. Ronda was very much NOT a BJJ artist, but you don't need to be the best submission artist in the world to secure armbars if you were started in cross-side with the arm secured on a stunned opponent. Ronda being as good as she was at judo means that position was almost a guarantee for her.

There is no question Dern is much better in the submission grappling department, (Carmouche reversed to Ronda's back and took her neck in seconds, but had no hooks) but Dern's relative lack of takedowns/throws means she has to start her work from much farther back. Dern also has much more power in her hands, but less diversity and volume in her striking. Dern has made strides to look solid and tight in her striking, but has also abandoned technique for looping strikes, which you could either call 'diverse strategy' or 'inconsistency' depending how effective it is at any given time.

But yeah, I'd say their skill is comparable, and that Dern is definitely fighting more skilled opponents, but they do have clear different advantages.
