Machida's record at LHW is actually incredible.

for some reason i thought he retired a can. i see you are talking about lhw.
the fact jones ran him down to MW shows how amazing PED jones was.

His style was amazing to watch when it worked and excrutiating when it didn't, just like Yoel or Wonderboy. Living and dying by the sword (the sword being waiting for a perfect opening for a shot / counter to blitz your opponent with) is a strategy that doesn't age well - it stops being effective when you inevitably slow down, and when your opponents figure you out.

He won that first round against prime roided up Jones .. and wasn't doing too badly until he was dropped like a sack of potatoes by Jones' pure psycho'ness

Even though I'm pretty sure Machida was on juice at least when he cut to MW, I still will be a fan forever, and everybody know he won the first against Davis.

He clearly beat Rampage who admitted as much in the post fight interview.
I was on sherdog then. It was funny. 90% of sherdoggers gave Rampage round 1 and 90% of Sherdoggers gave Rampage round 2...

...but most sherdoggers thought Machida won.

I still get a big kick out of that one.

Anyway, yes, Machida was an epically good fighter. And when he was on, it was a thing of beauty. And it was very timely, because right then most MMA fighters started becoming the quintessential "good at everything" fighters, so watching Machida's very unique style was especially welcome to many of us old school fans who appreciated more individuality in the sport.

I barely put him behind Rampage in the meaningless "LHW GOAT Rankings" and not because of their fight result but because of Rampage's body of work.

Reading comprehension 101: The title says his record at LHW.

I am just providing some real numbers to try and calculate your comment that "you see Lyoto Machida ending his UFC career at LHW with an astonishing 18-2 record". How could his record be 18-2 at ufc lhw when his overall record is 16-8, doesn't seem possible. So, you are gifting him two more wins, which would = 18-6 in your hypothetical. Which would mean, 18-2 at middleweight, 0-4 at any other weight. Which must therefore mean, he lost 4 from 4 at middleweight, or went 0-4 at middleweight. However, Machida beat Mousasi and Munoz at middleweight. So he can't have gone 0-4 at middleweight, so where does the 18-2 number come from in your original post?

No problems with my reading comprehension.

His official record, which I state clearly in the OP, is 17-3 at LHW.

imagine giving machida the decision against davis lol
