Machida crane kicking Couture was a paradigm shift

In the lead up, supposedly Randy found holes in Machida's game he was going to exploit. I kind of wish Machida didn't showcase his KO power and we got to see more what he was planning, but it is what it is. Besides Romero, being a 47 year old is an auto loss. Amazing kick, but just doesn't mean the same to me as a prime Vitor. This was more of Randy going out on top in a high level fight.

“The Machida era has arrived“

"Welcome to the Machida era ladies and gentlemen"

More seriously Machida really left his imprint on the game it's only after him that we saw fighters taken the wide karate stance like early McGregor and Cejudo, and of course Wonderboy.

It’s ridiculous that I took this long for someone to realize who taught both of them this technique! Know your history!
You see Steven Seagal who taught him the technique is legit!

Only casual would forget Larusso did it first

Fight exhibition talent, get exhibition results.

You can style on old farts who don't belong in there with you, more news at 11.

to me that was just randy so old and slow he could barely move. it was like hitting a stationary defenseless target.

You're missing probably the most important factor in the success of the kick, which Machida himself gave praise and credit to in his post fight interview.

This happened around the same time as Anderson Silva kicking Vitor. That one seemed to always get the shine, but I thought this one looked better.
It may have looked better, but you can’t compare knocking out grandpa Couture with doing it to peak TRT Vítor.
