According to Dana they let Conor and his goons in the Barclays Center. I wouldn't be surprised to find out they informed Conor that Khabib was without his crew. Conor had these guys on the inside feeding him the information and he jumped at the opportunity because Khabib was outnumbered.

Conor could have easily done this at the hotel (equally as stupid) but the chance of Khabib's crew being there was greatly raised. Nothing but an act to look like a badass. He knew Khabib was going to be on a bus and the chances of any face to face confrontation between the two was slim.
