Lower tier UFC fighters make less than they would by working in McDonalds.

It's rough being a pro MMA fighter these days. Most are fighting for scraps while paying their trainers and managers a big chunk out of that scrap to try to stay ahead. Sponsorship opportunities are all but smothered by a deal they had no say in, and they have to stay in the good graces of the UFC in hopes that some of that mysterious locker room $ will end up in their pockets and they won't get cut after losing 1 fight.

And I wouldn't want it any other way! Bitterness and hatred breed the best popcorn. Loving this Reebok deal. Good job on the UFC and Reebok's parts. Keep it up!

and yet we see guys around here saying that fighters are making "more than enough" money.. o_O

Taxes seem a little high in that opening breakdown, assuming all the deductions are legit.

There's no point in having a manager anymore.

It sounds like he needs a better accountant with all those expenses he should be paying tax on his net which would be a lot less.

His taxes should be around 10% +/- of gross.

I agree with other posters, he needs a new tax man.

The reebok deal really screwed over all the fighters. lol

Everyone should jump ship and go to other orgs.

Also, I am beginning to think that these fighters need lawyers to look over their contracts. I think the managers are supposed to do this, but I am going to guess that most fighters' managers are useless.

They need a "sports agent" type person.

this is total bullshit. the alliance gym he trains at takes ten percent and that includes management and coaching.

get a better accountant because as a 1099 earner with ufc theres no way you should be paying that much in taxes.

yes the 1000 misc is fair as well as the medical

chipping in for a corner man to get to the fight and fight week meals etc they definitely spend some money on that. ufc gives you like 50 bucks a day for ALL meals.

now the opportunity cost of reebok is huge. you could easily get 20k extra from a stupid business owner who thinks ufc is cool and wants to show his friends his business name is on the banner. and or deals like all those brands that supported all the andre pedineiras fighters. venom or whatever. same with the greg jackson hat.

myles jury is a whiner.

he probably learned from dom cruz who did have legit gripes with his low pay initially in his career when compared to faber.
