M-1 Challenge 68 - Sasha Shlemenko vs. Slava Vasilevsky II (stream starts 9:00 am PT)

The Storm caught Vasilevsky with one of his signature moves, he's got 3 finishes like this in his career (at least that's what he said at the press conference). And yeah, if you missed this event for some reason, here is the video report on it in English and fights & press conference highlights.

It's true. The guillotine is one of Sasha's best moves. It's below it, but it's still right up there with his left-hook to the body and his snapping mid-roundhouse kick as his best techniques. If Slava got knocked out with a body-hook by Shlemenko, people wouldn't think Slava screwed up; they'd think it's Shlemenko doing what he does best. His guillotine's no different.

The Galesic lifted-off-the-ground choke is one of Shlemenko's best career moments. It was one of the things that put him on the map, and it takes a lot of skill and strength to be able to pull that off.
Unless Urijah Faber [along with a few select others] does it, though, people always think that guillotine submissions are about luck and your opponent screwing up more than your own successes, and don't take much skill compared to, like, an armbar or something. I've seen a lot of people on here say that they think guillotines are the easiest, no-skill-needed submissions to do, but it's, like, the exact opposite.

Right. Together with his drive to win until the end no matter what this guillotine did the job. Usually rematches are not that entertaining as the original match but this one is a whole different story. If Shlemenko continues to fight for M-1 there's a big possibility of the third match between these guys. Hopefully this will happen.
