Conflicting reports from various outlets: Either a car or a small truck has been driven into a crowd of people, apparently there are multiple casualities (fatalities and injuries). As there is a large-scale police operation going on, an attack seems likely but has not been confirmed yet.

EDIT: The newspaper "Rheinische Post" is talking about an "attack" with 3 dead and about 30 injured. The perpetrator supposedly committed suicide (which IMO doesn't make an Islamic attack more likely). http://www.rp-online.de/nrw/panoram...-drei-tote-altstadt-abgeriegelt-aid-1.7500272

Praying it's not something bad, and maybe other reporters jumping the gun on reporting fatalities. That normally takes longer to come out than this after an event- terrorism or confused old person hitting gas instead of brake

Unfortunately, the cops already reported a few dead and 30 injured so looks very bad.

Hmm, if it's a Jihadi Islamist it's unusual for them to shoot themselves. Religiously prohibited and all that.
Of course speculation at this point is probably a bit pointless.
