Lynch, easy pick for me as he's one of my favorite directors and a great guy (save for his defense of Polanski on artistic means).

All he said was that people should still be able to appreciate the art without approving of everything the artist did in his life.

I don't think that detracts from Lynch being a great guy at all.

Lynch by a country mile. Tarantino is fun pop cinema and a great homage to films of the 60s and 70s but Lynch is a true artist imo.His films are endlessly rewatchable and have a depth not seen in western film other than maybe Kubrick. Both have great use of music as well but in different ways. Morricone is the king of Giallo and Angelo's Love Theme is the beat piece ever written for TV.

Lynch all the way, he's just unique and had insane ideas.

LOL! This is like Monica Belucci vs Alf based on looks.

And Lynch is not the Alf here.

Tarantino is a guy who makes a ham-fisted pastiche of other movies he thought were cool.

Lynch has a style of his own, and made great stuff.

Lynch is an artist. Tarantino does a lot of schlock and copy and paste of scenes and in everyone of his movies he characters are cardboard cuttouts. Tarantino tried to do real movies with Jackie Brown but that was financially underwhelming that he spent the rest of his career leaning hard into schlock. Tarantino can't make movies that are more than just entertaining ,in my opinion, because he just doesn't understand people. I am pretty sure he has aspergers or something like that.
