Great card but it was just above avg for PRIDE standards around that time. It wouldnt even make my top 10 for best PRIDE cards. It started PRIDE's great run of unmatched consistency/quality from 03 to circa 07 (obviously not including the last official PRIDE card which felt more like DREAM anyways with promotion, basically from PRIDE 25-33, from the dozen GPs, multiple Shockwave events and IMO their dozen consistently best cards in Bushido, PRIDE 25 got usurped time and time again.

Highlights of the card:

-Fedor annihilating the p4p #1 and HW GOAT to officially start his reign as the best in the world started.
-Nino massive upset of Saku (despite headbutt before clinch), only guy to beat prime Saku outside Rogerio, Igor, Mirko and Wand
-Hampage/Wand call out/faceoff
-Anderson flying knee KO Newton

then u had some solid fights but nothing special. I think Thomas is misremembering this card or perhap just holding it to that standard b/c it "started" PRIDE's great run to many. Hampage/Randleman was a very competitive fight but not "amazing" like he says here for instance.

What do u think?

The PRIDE GP 2000 has got to be up there as well

With a lot pride fans, there's a wide variety of answers when it comes to the "best card."

It's a testament to Pride's greatness.

It's not even the best PRIDE card.

Pride 33 (Diaz/Gomi, Hendo/Wand, Shogun/Reem, Soko/LilNog) & Pride Final Conflict 2003 (Rampage/Chuck, Saku/Randleman, Crocop/BigNog, Wand/Rampage) are both better, imho.

Pride Final Conflict 2003 is probably what he's thinking of.

Its in my top 10, wouldn't call it best of all time though.

It's one of the very best- top 3 of (regular) non-GP/Shockwave/Bushido PRIDE events with 33 and 10- but not best ever, imo.

Almost every fight was special.

Nog and Fedor was one of the biggest possible fights in the sport (after Tito-Ken/Chuck). 1 and 2 in the world. One-sided, but epic

Rampage and Randleman was a huge contender fight (like GSP-Trigg or Chuck-Vitor level). Violent KO

Hendo crushed Oyama. Anderson weathers the storm and KOs Newton (must have been an upset) with a flying knee.

ShojI showed so much heart and scratched and clawed his way to a tight decision over, imo, a better fighter, Steibling. Steibling was robbed and showed even more heart, it was still a great ShojI moment.

Even Otsuka's win was special; he snapped a 7-fight losing streak.

And Sakuraba... he never fought on the card. It juse didnt happen. Nope.

Pride Final Conflict 2005 for me

Fedor Vs Cro Cop
Shogun Vs Arona
Shogun Vs Overeem
Wanderlei Vs Arona
Werdum Vs Zentsov
Vovchanchyn's retirement fight

Fedor / Nog is up there just because Nog was had such an aura about his lethal submission skills and yet Fedor goes right into his guard and fucks Nog up. It was unbelievable.

Great card but other Pride cards were better

Never seen silva vs Newton until now.

Didn't Newton used to be legit top 10 fighter? Anderson Knocked him out stiff.

Shockwave 2004, Shockwave 2006, Pride 33, Ufc 100, Ufc 189 all better than Pride 25, imo

I'd say that Final Conflict 2003 and 2005 were clearly better.

That definitely wasn't the best. I think The final Conflict for heavy and middleweight, and Pride Shockwave, and that crazy Bushido 9. Every fight was different. The worst day for me was when Pride folded. I'm over it now,but a couple of Wands fights had me in tears, as well as Nog.Fedor. Beautiful show

Lets be honest, minus the history that unfolded with Saku/Royce and the controversy that led up to the fight, it was one boring GP - with a number of lackluster fights.

Pride 10 was leaps and bounds better then the GP
