Of course Rockhold isnt going to simply agree to fight Romero. The contract was for a title fight, which with Romero not making weight, its not a title fight anymore. If Luke took the fight and won he wouldnt get the endorsements for being a champion that he would have gotten had romero made weight. Example would be Reebok pay. He would no longer get the 30k he would make for fighting for the interm title, as well as, 40k for his next fight when he defends the title. Not to mention that if rockhold loses, the fact that romero didnt make weight plays no affect on rankings and negatitvely affects rockholds ability to be in line for the title despite that he had the discipline his opponent did not.
I dont like rockhold at all. I think hes the whinniest most annoying fighter on the roster. However, I dont think for one second that he should take this fight without renegotiating his contract which would include: Romeros 20% purse and 100% of his ppv pay, 30/70k show/win money to compensate for reebok pay, any money lost out on through other endorsements since its no longer a title fight, his original show money since its already guaranteed since he essentially won plus a new show/win purse for essentially what is rockhold vs romero 2. The UFC has something on the line to lose and so does Rockhold and the situation should be treated as such. I imagine this is what is going through his managers head and imagine his manager is not letting him fight.
Do you agree/How do you think the situation should be handled?
