If you think, for example, you can just say "it was self defense" and the cops will walk away no questions asked, and you don't get prosecuted for it, you're nuts. Generally "self defense" cases are still prosecuted unless the self-defense claim is VERY strongly corroborated by other evidence (e.g. credible eyewitnesses, video, the person you hurt was breaking into your home, etc.) In most cases, you get to tell it to the jury and roll the dice unless you want to take a plea deal (and having a colorable self-defense claim is often very helpful towards getting a better offer.)

So, in sum, no you cannot.

I imagine it was probably more of a push kick just keeping her away from him.

Well ufc fighters have been on a bad run lately from Anthony Smith struggling with a meth head, Bj Penn getting knocked out, even Cody Gibson was an embarrassment as well. You wouldn't think pro fighters would need tune ups in street fights but hey that's what we're dealing with here

Homeless woman charges at him, he probably had less than a second or two to react and did what he’s trained to do. Front kick to the body to keep her away and defend himself. If it was a homeless dude tweaked nobody would have a problem.

In that regard, I see no problem with what he did, he had every right to defend himself especially since he was probably startled and had no time to assess the situation.

that being said, it was pretty douchey to brag about it and call her it. Given the sensitivity of the situation, he definitely could have handled it better and explained his perspective on being startled and feeling the need to protect himself and his dog and whatnot instead of bragging about how much damage his kick did
