Luckiest UFC fighter

Cause I'm not the one acting like Jon is a saint.

Well, I'm not the one either So let's not block each other, it seems so drastic.

Let's just carry on and maybe talk again in the future like normal, civil adults on a karate forum :)

Islam looks like such a window licker all the time but when you watch interviews with him, he seem to have a decent head on his shoulders and makes sense with what he says. Of course they use a translator but he is far more coherent than guys like Luke Cockhold and Tito Ortiz.

Islam is most unlucky. He would've beat so many more names, but had so many pull out or duck him. Even before the title shot.

I'd say Aljo is a more lucky champ, but he's a good fighter too and earned his victories. But won a DQ to get the belt in a fight he was losing. Got a split decision win (I thought he won, but only needed one round by any other judge to lose) in rematch. Then got a broken TJ and 3 year layoff Cejudo back to back to defend.

Tito is too smart and the rest of us just haven’t caught up

Is Islam Machachev...

Shavkat gets injured
Khamzat moves up
UFC feeding him grandpa Uzman
Arman being denied getting shot at Islam
Volk is a midget
Can use Khabib's excuse to quit fighting when things get hot
UFC protecting him from Morales or Prates
Based his start on the association with Khabib

Lucky Luke

Meldonium luck ruling
Maybe IV use?
Abu Dhabi weight
Scale never stood still multiple times

On paper, Anthony Smith is a fucking idiot for that one.
In life otherwise, he's also a fucking idiot.

Yes

however- I am mildly curious as to whether he got the better of it financially and certainly with treatment and fame.

this guy was very forgettable.
He is a walking "make your own character" complete with a full set of generic tattoos.

Has he made more with his UFC on camera work, than he lost by not taking the belt by DQ?

Most champs seem to get at least $1mil for a title defense loss as champion.

he has been on the mic for how many years now? I wonder what they pay him?

he is definitely getting special treatment well beyond what would be expected based on his popularity and in cage achievements. To fans he seems to be mostly known as the turtle up and quit guy. And he got a better send off then many actual champions and beloved fighters (which was absurd. Should have been a 30 second video of fighters saying "who?")

Gus and Reyes otoh, they must still get a little sick when they inadvertently think about it

Only a few. I don't care what Jon Jones did or didn't do, but I don't like him. I'm not even quite sure why everyone cares. The law will take care of it or they won't. Dana and the UFC will handle it or they won't. The sport needs ass kickers and regardless of whatever societal problems he has or had he definitely falls into that category. Everyone can't be a good person within sports. I think that's how a lot of other guys look at it too. When Jon's fame fully resides and he eventually fucks up and does go to jail, or loses his fortune? I won't care then either. Jon provides me entertainment and the amount of dudes who can't seem to acknowledge that is mind blowing. Do I wish Jon was a better person and more likeable? For sure. Do I want to see Jones keep kicking rear end? Yep, I do.
Well said. It's not a "well adjusted person with character that I respect" contest

Its a "cave his head in with your elbows, and drop his unconscious body after you choke him til his eyes go crossed" contest

You like watching good guys get a happy ending while the bad guys suffer the consequences of their atrocities? Wish I could help.

Here's a netflix Statham movie, he plays a lowly parking meter attendent with a murky past this time

It's just dumb as fuck if you're actually saying that Jones doesn't get called out for all of the shit he's done.

NO ONE sees him as a saint. Some people, like me, try to isolate him as "Jones the fighter"

Which is quite reasonable, as if we were to judge UFC fighters by their morals, it would be an uphill battle.

Agreed, I’m also a big boxing fan too and the same goes for those dudes, Gervonta Davis is one example, great boxer but he does fuck up a bit outside the ring.

I mean, I wouldn’t say beating the legitimate Featherweight, Lightweight, and Welterweight Champions makes a guy lucky.

I think it’s probably more a case of whatever guy he didn’t fight is always the guy that would have beaten him. Something fans like to put on virtually every successful fighter ever.
