Luckiest Fighter In UFC

Jon Jones has been very lucky to win all the decisions he has. Been multiple close fights.

I also think he generally was lucky to beat all the guys he did.

Chris 'the lucky one' Weidman.

How so? If anything, he's one of the unluckiest fighters in modern UFC history. His career can be summed up as pre and post Rockhold. Pre Rockhold Weidman beat a GOAT and a couple other Brazilian legends, but never got the mainstream recognition from it. Post Rockhold Weidman has been a fragile shell of his former self that seems to find new ways to get KOed by all of his opponents. And throughout the entirety of his career, he's dealt with multiple long injury layoffs, including one which directly lead to Bisping--a guy he constantly mocked and insulted--to being champ!

How would you say hes lucky to beat the guys he did?

Are you talking about just the close decisions still or most of his resume?

All of it. You're lucky to win that many fights in a row. Gsp, Fedor, Silva, Jones. All of em

Theres a lot of luck involved in a streak like that. Hes super lucky Rampage, Rua, Machida, Belfort, DC didn't clip him in all those fights

I think it's bullshit that so many people are saying Alvarez. Since when is winning a split decision where the majority agree that you won the fight a knock on you? Refer to MMADecisions, Alvarez/Pettis was super close but by a slight margin, most thought Alvarez won. Close fights happen. The Melendez fight was a split decision but the vast majority of people thought Alvarez won. So what's the problem?

And people completely discredit his title win for various dumb reasons... "RDA bad weight cut", "got lucky"... Any win could be considered lucky then if you land the right shot.

Where are all the Alvarez fans at nowadays? He used to be one of the most beloved fighters. I feel like everyone just shits on him now for no reason.

How is he being said more than guys like Diego Sanchez, who has multiple undebatably atrocious/all-time worst decisions that went in his favor?

The most disappointing part of Jones' track record is not the PEDs. It's when you remember that he once fought before Mark Coleman on an undercard and you get immediately sad that he didn't get a chance to tangle with Hammer when they were both at 205.

Oh yeah I see your point, I thought you the way he won them was lucky, I get your point completely

Don't feed the trolls. If you don't know who Alvarez is then that's your loss. He's won a title in every organization he's been in except for the current one he's in. Biggest free agent signing at the time. The UFC wanted him. Left Bellator with the belt and wouldn't gotten the Andersen Silva fast track treatment if Cowboy didn't spoil it. (I still consider that his best win ever)

A win is a win at the end of the day.

Anyone who can take Dustin and Gaethje to those depths isnt lucky. People act like he beat RDA by fluke and then was getting smashed in every fight.

Alvarez and Bisping for me, if we are talking about champs.

Alvarez had very questionable split decision wins over Melendez and Pettis and his win over Dos Anjos was a fluke. He got a big payday and McGregor fight for that win.
Man isn't it funny how the luckiest guys are in the biggest fights with the most casting director type looks?

I love Eddie, especially in his pride days, but let's be real: his time in the UFC was past his peak and not indicative of someone who could clean out a division. He was on early Gaethje UFC lvl; coinflip brawling.

Chael aswell.

Got very lucky to even get the Jones fight, also would have been even more lucky if he won the belt from toe.

The Anderson fights are his best performances but are still losses at the end of the day.

Chael has done remarkably well for himself to become as popular as he has but there's definitely a degree of luck to it aswell.

Not as a fighter but in terms of an above average fighter who probably overachieved its Chael, he got lucky in the sense of a guy with his skillset shouldn't have got 3 shots at the belt.

People saying Alvarez, Bisping, Forrest, etc need their heads examined. Hard work and determination != "luck".

That being said...I'm having a hard time coming up with a better answer than Steve Jennum (won UFC 3 in his first fight as an alternate).

Maybe Vitor getting a belt due to sliced eyelid. But he had enough bad luck in h is life to offset that answer.

If Chael had beat Jones due to injury (toe) between rounds 1 and 2 it would have been that.

Bisping fought a string of career roiders, and essentially lost a fucking eye in his pursuit of ufc gold.

He basically fought the entire mw division, and was 'gifted' a title shot (saved a card) against a guy that previously beat the shit out of him.

Lucky is not what I would call him.

We often talk about bad luck in the fighting game, but who is the luckiest fighter in the UFC?

Lucky punch wins, awarded robbery decisions, opponents make mistakes...

Who is highest in the rankings due to luck?
Blachowicz for avoiding Rumble due to this UFC release
