It’s not about dieting down to low body fat, the cut to 155 was so steep for him that he would start a soft cut several weeks out from the fight, then water load the week of. That’s why he always looked shredded in camps. The benefit of 170 is he doesn’t need a soft cut, he can just go into weight cutting mode on fight week since he’ll only be cutting 12’ish lbs max. Which means that he’ll be much healthier and much less miserable on fight week. But he should look ripped on the scales.For an athlete that doesn’t compete at heavyweight, he looks like retaining a lot of water and fat.
I seriously thought he wanted to avoid the water cut, but it looks like he didn’t want to diet down to low bf and is still cutting a ton of water.
