Looking to Get Back Into WWE

When the '16 Rumble is over tho, you might think you played the wrong one, but don't worry, you didn't.

Start with Royal Rumble 2015(triple threat MOTY) then go to Mania then Elimination Chamber for Owen's excellent debut, then Summerslam then Survior Series then 2016 Royal Rumble. That's a pretty good overview of the last year and should have you caught up to current storylines
That sounds pretty good actually. I might go back and watch a few stand out matches from the year before, but other than that I'll probably follow your advice :)

I'm not quite sure what that means but I'll keep that in mind haha.

I'm not against starting a couple of years back but 2010 seems a little far. Is it worth starting from 2010 then?

Well there were a lot of great segments. I kind of glossed over Kevin Owens feud with Cena which was in mid 2015. A trilogy of matches. Check that out.

As far going back to 2010. Watch HBK Taker at WM 25 and then their rematch at WM 26. Excellent build and promo package. First match is a classic.

2011 WM we have Taker vs HHH. It's a slow match but has a good story.

2011 watch Extreme Rules for Christian and Del Rio World title ladder match. This sets up Christian and Orton for the next 4 PPVs. Watch their Over The Limit and Summerslam matches. Great stuff.

Also Punk's whole pipe bomb run starts at Money in the Bank 2011. Catch that PPV for the match of the year between Cena and Punk. If you like that storyline go ahead and watch the next few PPVs after that other wise skip ahead.

Then WM 2012 we got Taker v HHH rematch in hell in a cell.

2013 Royal Rumble watch for Rock and Punk.
They do it again at the next PPV.

Skip to Summerslam 2013 and enjoy Punk vs Lesnar and Bryan vs Cena. Excellent bouts. I'd skip the rest of the year.

That should bring you to Rumble 2014 which is meh. Daniel Bryan's run stars after that all the way to WM.

This will then bring you Summerslam 2014 which I outlined above.

If you're getting back into it for guys like that then don't start watching. Because besides the New Day, they all are going to, or already do get buried and you're just going to be another guy that goes on the internet and complains about a scripted show because fat guys and midgets don't beat Gorilla sized roid heads like Cena and Reigns.

I really appreciate all that. I think it's definitely going to keep me busy over the next few months! Thanks for the help :)

Thanks for opinion :)

Is there a good starting point/specific in the past few months/year where I could get into so I don't miss out on any good storylines or current plot points?

There are no good storylines or plot points. You might as well start with the Royal Rumble.

Seriously, there no stories you need to catch up on. Everything is day to day, characters have no motivation apart from "I want the belt"

Stephanie is a bitch, HHH is a bastard except when on NXT, Ambrose is a dirty face, Reigns is a clean face, Rusev got castrated, Lana got destroyed, Rollins is an injured bad guy, New Day are funny heels, SOB are jobbers, Alberto Del Rio is a Mexican mean bad guy, Luchadores are Mexican face jobbers, the Wyatt family are heel jobbers, Lesnar is the dominant face who beat Taker, the rest are injured.

I think you'll regret doing that. I'd suggest spending your time on NXT and Lucha Undrrground if you want stories. Otherwise just drop into Raw next Monday. Plus watch the Rumble.

How comes?

Epic storylines and production. Not shit that hasn't evolved for a decade. Robert Rodriquez vs Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn.

Subscribe to MLW Radio on ITunes and you'll quickly get up to speed on everything in wrestling.

Honestly I don't think you are going to be satisfied by watching the product weekly.. If you are looking to get back into I suggest sticking to the PPVs.. And watching youtube clips..

If you are looking to watch old episodes of RAW and old PPVs... I suggest starting when The shield came on the scene and catch up from there. This was some time around 2013 I think..Watch this until they break up and then skip ahead to WM 2015 and watch Seth Rollins title run.. Watch up until he has to vacate the title due to his injury.. Then take a break and come back around Summerslam 2016 when Rollins is likely to return.

Good luck, hope you find what your looking for.

That being said, the storyline is NEVER going to captivate you like it did 10+ years ago when you were younger and it was new to you. So don't watch expecting it to be game changing drama. Watch for the talent of the performers and you'll have a good time regardless of whats going on with the microphone.

Your best bet is to get your free month subscription to the WWE network.. By the end of this month you'll have burnt yourself out and seen everything you could ever want. Then move on.

It's hard to get into it when you know what's going to happen next - interference, feuds, could see the booking a mile away. I miss the monday night wars where you didn't know wtf was going to happen.

Kinda in the same bot as OP.

I gather from the "fat guys and midgets" quip I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for AJ or Samoa Joe to get over, then?

Nah AJ is doing fine

He'll prob be IC or US champ soon enough

The product is very bad right now. It isn't fun to watch, especially for three hours. The WWE give the fans no reason be interested in any of the wrestlers or matches. Don't expect to anticipate watching Raw next week. It is more like a chore.

Your best bet is to get the WWE Network, watch last year's Mania, this year's Rumble, then Raw. It really doesn't matter though because there aren't any storylines.

NXT is better programming on the WWE Network, and most importantly, find a way to watch Lucha Underground. It is way better.

It's tough dude. I've been trying for awhile but the storylines are very predictable and poor. The only good thing is they brought Jericho back so I've been watching for him, AJ Styles and the Dudleys.

Yep. If you watched the two ppvs you mentioned you could easily watch next weeks Raw without missing a beat. Not much variation at all.

I've recently had a sudden urge to get back into WWE after not really watching it since 2003 (although I did watch it briefly during the first season of NXT, the Nexus run, and CM Punk's rise) and I was wondering if there was a good starting point to watch it from to catch up.

If it helps at all the reason I'm looking to get back into it is because of the influx of solid characters like Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Neville, Finn Balor, New Day, etc.
Welcome back, Brother!

Thanks! I've not caught up yet because I've got distracted by watching CM Punk's 2011 run and Cena v The Rock, but I'll get there soon lol.

Wrestling moves too fast to go back and try to catch up. However rollsonnen makes a good case. I would Catch the rumble to mania from last year then skip ahead to rumble this year and watch it going forward. If u have more time then watch all the big ppvs from 2015 as roll suggested -- summerslam and survivor series
