Looking for help w/ a story and/or author

Hello fellow doggers,

Looking for a pointer in the right direction (no luck googling or maybe my google-fu isn't what it used to be) for a story I started reading years ago and lost track of:

It's about a terminally ill man who has a clone created of himself and is then sent to live out his remaining days on some island or something while his clone takes over his life. A cure is then discovered for his disease, thus curing him and he proceeds (IIRC) to sue his clone to get his legal rights/standing back....

Any help/ideas? Thanks!

Actually reminds me a little of Mr. Murder by Dean Koontz, but not quite right either.

You'd think "suing a clone" would be enough to google a title, but I guess not. You're sure this is a novel and not a film or show?

Nah nothing yet anyway. It's not Dr Murder, and I'm positive it's a book (although it might have been made into a show, not sure)

Sounds a bit like the Island with Ewan Mcgregor and Scarlet Johanson. Its a movie though and Im not sure the clone sues the real guy, long time since Ive seen it.
