LOL Ford

I thought with the Trump tax plans, all these companies were going to stay. I read 80% of the tax savings money is going overseas. Sure glad Trump bumped up the deficit 2 trillion since he has been in office.
#MAGA.
We need to keep an eye on where companies are manufacturing. If Trump has no impact on that, he might not be worth it.

I am kinda surprised they are killing the Taurus line. It's a pretty popular car for economy drivers/corporations.

I hate ford trucks.. we use ford for our fleet at work..

They are supreme piece of shits that last eight months on a job site then fall to pieces..

That being said...

Dipshit me totaled my truck last week and the rental they gave me was a Ford Fusion hybrid 2017..

That car is bad ass.. seriously impressed, power like crazy and gets up to 60 mpg...I was really expecting a turd and was pleasantly surprised..I’d even consider buying one now.

They should have done this a long time ago. Their sedans suck dick. Smart move to finally do this.

People hate sedans nowadays. They are almost dead. No reason to keep assuming they must sell sedans because they are the ‘real’ type of car.

I confess I fail to understand the attraction of shitty SUVs, but that goes for a lot of things.

Realistically, hatchbacks, wagons, and sport backs are just better designs than a sedan.

It was popular in the 1990s. But fell by the way side in the 00s. Leaving aside luxury cars, American brands just can't beat the Japanese in the sedan market.

I don't know the time line but a lot of state/federal agencies were/still are using them. Ironically the Taurus was replaced with the Ford Focus, which happens to be another car that's getting the axe.

What are corporations/government agencies going to use for fleet cars now that the Focus is disappearing?

Edit: Nvm I guess the Ford Focus is staying and the Fusion is being axed.

Top 5 Selling Vehicles of 2017 (USA)
1. Ford F-150
2. Chevy Silverado
3. Ram truck
4. Toyota RAV4
5. Nissan Rogue

So 3 trucks and 2 SUVs.

The next 5 are:
6. Toyota Camry - 2017 sales down 0.4% from 2016
7. Honda CR-V
8. Honda Civic
9. Toyota Corolla - 2017 sales down 13% from 2016
10. Honda Accord - 2017 sales down 6.5% from 2016

So for the sedans on the list, most of their sales are declining.

Why is that funny? An American company makes a smart business move and it’s “LOL”.

Because murica thinks there the end all be all, when in fact they need other countries too lol.

Out here most of the Law enforcement vehicles are Ford Explorers and Chevy Tahoes. When even the cops are moving away American sedans, you know they are gone.

Sedans have been in a death spiral for several years now. Crossovers are the new sedan and sales are great.

EDIT: Never mind, I misread the article.
Yes yes you did. Pretty badly in Fact. Ford has been making cars in Hermasillo for decades. Ford didn't get bailed out. You skimmed the article's title and rushed to make a thread. Way to push an agenda without any bit if fact checking. And you make fun of Fox news. Shame on you

Obama saved the UAW and fucked of the shareholders at 5ge same time

Auto makers would have been fine under restructuring
Yes cerberus was circling to buy Chrysler I think. GM shareholders were shafted is the real result. Someone would have stepped in and bought both CM and Chrysler

"By 2022, almost 73 percent of all consumer vehicle sales in the United States are expected to be utility vehicles of some sort, and about 27 percent will be cars, according to LMC Automotive."

Sounds like they're getting ahead of the Curve

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/26/for...us-car-business-and-gm-is-not-far-behind.html

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more threads on this statistic.

Seems to me the manufacturers are pricing the consumers out of ownership. Also society is on a pathway where driving and ownership for the common man is going trying to be phased out.

Kinda like when the automobile was first invented and it was only for the rich.

Personally, I find it odd they are pulling out their smaller car segments. Especially considering the eventual rise of electric vehicles. I guess Ford is going to hedge its bets on electric SUVs and trucks? Sounds kind of short sighted.
