for sure Cory wasn't playing to his strengths for the whole fight. Yan has some fight IQ issues too though. He had his foul against aljo and he gave away early rounds to aljo while figuring him out. An experienced combat sports competitor once told me that you have to go into stare downs expecting that the guy across from you is going to try and make you flinch to embarrass you and make you look weak. There is no real danger posed by the situation so you just completely, consciously turn off your reflexes.
