LOGAN Rakes in Huge $9.5 Million Thursday Night at the Box Office

Logan, the latest, and likely last, X-Men: Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman, earned a massive $9.5 million Thursday night in previews.

Logan's preview tally bests the most recent X-Men film, Apocalypse, which earned $8.2 million in previews when it debuted in May 2016, on its way to a $79.8 million debut (over a holiday weekend). Marvel's Doctor Strange, which opened in November, earned $9.4 million, and earned $85 million in its domestic debut. Back in 2013, the most recent Wolverine stand-alone film earned $4 million in previews.

The Fox film, which sees Jackman return to the titular character, is projected to gross more than $70 million in North America this weekend, and as much as $100 million overseas, where it is opening in numerous markets, including China.

Directed by James Mangold, Logan, which is rated R, follows Wolverine, who is caring for an ailing Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), as he encounters a mysterious young girl named Laura (Dafne Keen) in need of their help.

We went last night.

First, oooooookay I should have taken the 18A rating more seriously. The violence is extreme. That wasn't so much an issue for my 9 year old but I think she also found about half of it just boring.

My husband and I, though, loved it. I loved seeing Wolverine vulnerable and weak in so many different ways. Hugh Jackman knocked it out of the park. So did the girl. It was dark and gritty and so bleak, but so bright at the same time. And I cried so hard that I had to stay in the theatre when the movie ended to settle myself.

I gave it a 10. I wouldn't want a single thing changed. Also, I had poutine.
 
Gonna go see this tomorrow with the family. Super stoked for this shit

Prolly the most Canuckest thing since Canuck came to Canuckville.
 
This was everything I wanted in Jackman's final time as Wolverine. This is the most mature superhero film yet. Jackman and Stewart gave it their all and more. I'm so happy they got to make me laugh, cry, smile, feel sad, etc one last time in their iconic roles. This is a film that'll stay with me for a long time.
 
Something I wanted to say about the ending that made it even more special.

The X grave was such a beautiful touch that perfectly symbolized the 17 years Jackman's been Wolverine. What added even more was the cut to black. It's unheard of for a superhero film to just fut your black like that and leave the audience to soak in everything. No post credit scene made it even better. It truly was the ending of an icon.
 
Rewatched it again.

I got more emotional the second viewing! Damn what a fantastic film.

Also I forgot to mention but did anyone else love the theme playing during the limo chase?

That piano! Bah Gawd!
 
I think me and Mrs are going on Sunday if I'm not too hungover lol.. I'm pumped!!
