It's just because they are blinded by their hatred of him, they're so emotionally invested that they literally can't process what is happening on their TV screens.

The narrative was he hasn't beaten anyone in the current top 10, which was true up to tonight. Everyone he's beaten in the top 10 either dropped down to LW or retired. I'm neutral on the subject btw.

Him and Usman are elite wrestlers. The difference is Usmans striking has improved by leaps and bounds since the Woodley fight, and now he has become a knockout guy while Colby has never been much of a big finisher to this day

When somebody is the generally agreed upon p4p #1 and defending champion, it's hard to not give some recognition to the guy who gave him his toughest fight in recent years. Also, colby has thoroughly dominated everybody else he has fought. It's simple really. Check the rankings too. He is #2
