I pulled this from MMA discussion. Thought I 'd post it here because I know most of you avoid MMA discussion like the plague.. For those of you who haven't seen this...it is really good. Especially round one before they get a little tired.

My thoughts on why I think the decision for Silva's win was fair:

In a close match like this you have to ask a couple of questions:

1) Who pressed the action? Who took risks? Who took the initiative?

Silva.

2) Who was content to sit back and let the other guy make mistakes?

Arona.

This could have been 15 minutes of staring and taunting if Silva hadn't pressed the action,

3) Who got themselves out of bad spots without intervention from the ref?

Silva.

Yes they both got help. But Silva did escape twice from the ground on his own. Arona did nothing but lay on his back until the ref or Silva let him up. He never tried to improve his position on his own.

With that said....Silvai wins it....

the like doesn't work you've included the ... in the address

You're right.

To beat the champ you have to do more than get half of your takedowns stuffed and reversed.

Silva pressed the action and was active on his back, not for subs, but watch him moving an neutralizing Arona's arms and avoiding shots. Arona couldn't do much after he got the take downs.

Close fight, but no one could claim Arona got robbed.
