Let's go back to June of 2016 when Bisping defeated Rockhold for the Middleweight Title. Let's pretend that never happened. Pretend that Luke defeated Bisping, then defeated Weidman (when he was healthy and cleared) in a rematch, then defeated Mousasi, and then Romero. For the sake of argument, let's say that somehow the Whittaker/Rockhold match was still happening at 221 as it is, except with Luke as the defending champion.

From just that impressive title streak alone - Weidman (x2), Bisping again, Mousasi, and Romero, would Luke Rockhold have an argument for being the Middleweight GOAT regardless of how his fight with Whittaker turned out?

idk Dude, why does it matter? There’s a lot of hypotheticals and you’re changing the results of a fight that already happened.

Let's not turn the clock back. I enjoyed the full creation and end product of Salted Luke.

Would CM Punk be considered the welterweight GOAT if he defeated Mickey Gall and tore through the rest of the division, finishing Woodley via wheel kick in round one?

That would have been such a Meteroic Rise

Yes he would.

If this, if that, who gives a shit.

Let's pretend this thread never happened.

I like pondering What If's, and a year or so ago you could argue that Middleweight, not Lightweight, was the biggest shark tank in the organization and I'm wondering if it was such that someone would be the Middleweight GOAT if they ripped through it. Rockhold (or Weidman) was the best example to use.

how bout this, if houston alexander wouldve defeated every opponent he faced at lhw including jones, dc, and shogun, then went to heavyweight and beat fedor, werdum, stipe, jds, reem, brock, crocop, and francis, then went to mw and beat silva, weidman, rockhold, rob, trt vitor, and yoel, making him the only undefeated fighter to ever capture a title in 3 different weight classes at the same time, do you think he would have an argument of being the #1 mma greatest of all time?

What If's are fun to ponder, not sure what ya problem is, boy. In fact, the (vast?) majority of threads around here are about debating hypotheticals.

Another thread for another time, my man. How hard is it to just give an opinion (even just a simple Yes or No) instead of trying to be smarmy?

i was just messing around.... in all seriousness there way to many what ifs to say a simple yes or no. plus i hate luke personally hes a dickhead. so my answer would be biased anyway lol

No they're not fun to ponder.

There's a difference between discussing what people think is going to happen in an upcoming fight and debating on some pointless imaginary scenario like the one in this thread.

You seem like a big procrastinator.

lol The difference is negligible. You're still having fun debating something that you don't know the certain answer to either way. And it's not pointless to me, forgive me for having an imagination, though.

The difference is you're debating on something that has already happened. He lost those fights. Pondering on whether or not he would be the GOAT if this or if that is just pointless.

Best answer to this thread:

It's not pointless if I (or anyone else) find some emotional gratification in debating it. Pointless is you and a few others taking the time to tell me how pointless you think my thread is to begin with. It would have taken you less time to just give a simple Yes or No answer (even with a brief summary of why) as it has to make multiple posts telling me how pointless you find the whole topic to be. How about 'dat?
