It looks like its the beginning of awards season, and so i figure this is the time to talk about what movies are in play to win the awards, and what we thought the best movies this year were.

Im seeing that Lady Bird, Call me by your name, and The Florida Project are all getting strong love. Anybody watch these and can give the low down? The most disappointed ive been from these indie-creative drama type of movies was Boyhood.

For me, Baby Driver and Three Billboards outside Ebbing are the best films i've seen this year. All in all, enthralling, superbly paced films. After that, id imagine Get Out gets some love. As a surreal psychological thriller, you don't really get better than that. Dunkirk was amazing. Logan was as well, but comic book movies will never win anything remotely significant is The Dark Knight couldn't.

What say you guys?
-The best films of the year
-Which films you think will take in the awards.
I rewatched baby driver yesterday cool film I think it got crappy toward the end.

the first 66% of the film was great the end was half assed.

Totally agree. The first half was almost perfect with the best opening scene to a movie in a long time. Great action combined with great music and decent acting. But they seemed to not know how to end it.

Wind River was movie of the year for me.

Dunkirk was good so was Blade Runner 2049 but without a doubt Wind River was the best movie i watched

The best movie I saw this year was Get Out. @BisexualMMA @shadow_priest_x

The twist is that Kevin Spacey is gay

Get Out getting a lot of love. I thought it was a bit better than average but nothing special at all.

John Wick Chapter 2 is my favorite movie for this year, followed by Logan.

here are the 2017 movies I have seen:

Split: 7.5/10, return to form!

The Lego Batman Movie: 6/10, a step down.

John Wick 2: 8.5/10, almost as good as 1.

Logan: 8/10, class....mostly

Kong skull island: 7/10, fun but just ok.

Beauty and the Beast: 5.5/10..cartoon was way better, beast was weak.

Ghost in the Shell: 8.5/10, better than expected, looked awesome with a great story.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: 8/10 better than the first.

King Arthur: 8/10 deserved more success, one of the coolest knights and dragons fantasy movies I've seen since LOTR.

Alien Covenant: 8/10, "don't let the bed bugs bite" .. this movie was a thrill.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5: 5.5/10... struggling to remember this movie apart from the bank robbery scene

Wonder Woman: 8/10 really fun movie

The mummy: 6.5/10 was just decent

Baby Driver: 5.5/10 huge let down. Characters were cartoons.

Spiderman homecoming: 7/10 entertaining, good villain, character of Spidey wasn't as good as the last guy.

War for the planet of the apes: 8.5/10 awesome, excellent finale. One annoying character tho.

Dunkirk: 8.5/10 visceral and thrilling masterpiece but a movie with this little story has a ceiling at 8.5 for me.

Logan Lucky: 8/10 thoroughly entertaining, great heist flick. Blows that baby driver shit away.

American Made: 7.5/10 middle of the road screenplay for this kinda biopic but very entertaining and well acted and well made.

Blade runner 2049: 9.5/10 a real masterpiece man what else can I say? Wonderful film.

Thor Ragnarok: 7/10 good action, looked awesome, too jokey.

Justice league: 7.5/10 a real mess but they did the heros well and those are some fantastic heros to see on screen.

Winner is bladerunner 2049

Garbage year for movies.

I strangely think Only The Brave, or Stronger were my favorite films over the "blockbusters"...Lego Batman was fun though.

I keep forgetting Split came out in 2017 for the US. Came out in 2016 over here.

Life - Film of the Year imo.

Wind River - Solid.

Dunkirk - Solid.

Pretty much all I've seen this year.
