I think Miocic deserves it more than Weidman, but well, all in all, I think I agree with you.

Hmm, Alvarez over Weidman? I'm close to a Weidman hater and I can't even get on board with that. At the very least Weidman has impressive wins in the UFC.

Weidman should be at the bottom of the list.

The way he lost, besides there are other contenders in form of Romero or Jacare, ( in case their fight at UFC 194 was for title contender). Now Romero failed then it automatically switches over to Jacare. No point denying him a TS because the way their match went.

For Alvarez, apart from RDA & Tony he had the toughest schedule. Defeated ex strikeforce champion & ex WEC & UFC champion. IMO he obviously deserves a shot.

You have to compare each contender to the alternative options from respective divisions. So:

9. Woodley (terrible choice; many ahead of him)
8. Alvarez (bad choice; Barboza and Chiesa ahead of him, and he's lucky Khabib and Ferg are out)

5. Faber (Dillashaw rematch and prospects the only alternatives)
5. Nunes (Holm the only alternative; edit - I guess there's the Tate/Zingano rematch too)
5. Miocic (Overeem the only alternative though there was Rothwell too)
4. Weidman (alternatives like Jacare, Bisping, Belfort had similarly bad cases)

3. Frankie/Jose (best choice, but Holloway had a case)
2. Claudia (best choice)
1. DC (unification)

What HW deserves a TS more than Miocic?
Overeem, JDS, Rothwell. Miocic has a single impressive win, and it was against a guy coming off a decision win in a staring contest with Frank Mir.

Just Overeem and Rothwell. Miocic had already KO'd Arlovski at UFC 195.

I agree, Arlovski took that fight to remain active. Or otherwise he obviously had a case for TS with his 4 fights win streak. If he would have waited for a month or two, It would have been him challenging Werdum for the title.

IMO he burned himself.

Weidman is the worst by far. Such a pointless rematch and after all that excuses, I hope he gets another beating.

The top of the heavyweight division is a mess. Oh for a one night tournament!

This.

Also Benavidez has an argument. Smolka will to if he wins his next fight.

Green: Good to Go it's the right thang.

Red: No

White: They alright

Unless you indicate who is more deserving (where applicable), I will stubbornly refuse to participate.

8. Alvarez (bad choice; Barboza and Chiesa ahead of him
Wut?

Alvarez beat Gil and Pettis while Barboza only beat Pettis, has more UFC losses and lost worse to Cowboy, who has Chiesa beaten to warrant a TS?

I think Miocic got the shot because he's an easy out for Werdum. Overeem's chin isn't so good. Rothwell or JDS have the most deserving records, but both of them present, um promotional challenges. This is why a monopoly like the UFC is bad. In boxing these fighters would be objectively ranked by third parties and then the fights would be bid on by promoters. Then we would know who's king.
