Or better yet: let's put all the superheroes into every scene of every movie! As you can probably guess, I am not a big fan of the Superhero fad that has been plaguing us in the last decade or so. In fact, after being disgusted by Deadpool, I have taken the oath to avoid every Superhero movie coming out from now on. I will make an exception for Dr Strange because of Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton, two actors I particularly like.

Now, in a brilliant marketing scheme, Marvel and Fox are in talks to combine universes. That would mean adding dozens of new Superhero into a combined franchise. The culmination of that idea would be to include every Superhero in the same movie for maximum profit! In fact, this article has crunched the numbers and concluded that a movie with 21 superheroes would make it nearly two times more profitable than the highest grossing movie of all time!

Prediction: this sarcastic nightmare will happen before 2020 for sure.

The sooner they take this whole thing to completion and move on, the better.

How bout no more superhero movies period

I love superhero movies, but I do understand why people hate them. They're not for everyone.

I hate cheesy racing movies like all the fast and furious movies. I watched 2 of them and they are fucking awful.

Yeah I'm a big comic book fan but just tired of the same superhero movies being recycled over and over. You know what I REALLY want to see though? I got three words for you.

NINTENDO.

CINEMATIC.

UNIVERSE.

No shitty live action performances, ALL CGI. Give it the look of Pixar movies, but with the Marvel treatment. Slow burn. Each movie depicts one Nintendo franchise and build up that world.

First movie; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Mushroom Kingdom, etc. Typical adventure / romance movie.

Second movie: The Legend of Zelda. Timeless fairy tale type movie. Link, Zelda, Ganon, Hyrule, etc.

Third Movie: Donkey Kong vs. the Kremlings (please make it the Kremlings they were awesome villains). Throw in Diddy, Dixie, Cranky, Funky and the rest of the gang.

Fourth Movie: Super Metroid. Samus in a space action adventure.

So on and so on...Kirby's Dream Land. Star Fox. Pokemon. Earthbound. Etc.

And in each of these movies you hint at a larger world that is out there. Some intergalactic force of evil comes to threaten the known universe, and the heroes of these respective worlds must unit to save the day. They must form a band of "Brothers," if you will, capable of "Super Smashing" their way to victory.

Nintendo would make so much money off of this concept that they don't even need to compete in the console wars anymore. They will have won. Nintendo's collection of franchises has so much depth that Sony and Microsoft couldn't possibly begin to compete.

Tell me you wouldn't want to see this.

Fucking do it already, Nintendo!

Why? Just don't watch them. The only way I can understand your hate with these movies is if you were forced to watch them because you had to take your kids or cool girlfriend/wife.

They should do a sitcom with all the super heroes where they all live in an apartment in Manhattan and hang out at the local bistro. They can get into shenanigans with crazy women and controlling bosses down at the office. Maybe spark up a love triangle between a few of them to add some drama to the pot.

As soon as they stop making money the sooner they'll stop making superhero movies.

I hate both! In fact, you can also add "killing spree" revenge movies like John Wick or Rampage. Unless they're directed by Quentin, I will avoid them for sure!

My 3 favorite movies of the last decade are Birdman, Ex Machina and Black Swan.

You're on to something there! I wouldn't want to see it but I agree with you: it would not only make bank, it would likely put Nintendo back in business. If they can produce new exciting content with the money they make out of your idea, I say they could get back on top of the videogame pyramid in the next 5 years or so.

My friend, think tank that idea and get a real business plan and you can make A LOT of money. Hurry before I (or someone else reading this thread) steal your idea...

how about a villain-only film where they duke it out

Put all the superheros on one planet and then have Galactus eat the planet

I loved Ex Machina. Birdman on the other hand was the worst movie I have seen in the past decade. I still have to check out Black Swan because I loved Requiem for a Dream.

Thanks, but it'd be hard to bank off of that idea seeing as how I don't own any of the franchises. And people have been wanting to do Nintendo based movies for years but they've been going about it all wrong.

I say, fuck the live action angle because CGI will be cheaper, and you can make the characters look cartoony and exactly how they appear in the games. And if you try to establish that all these franchises exist in the same world, you have continuity issues. So have them be different planets entirely, but all in the same universe. One one planet Hylians live in Hyrule. On another planet, the citizens of Mushroom kingdom. On another planet, humans live with Pokemon. Etc. Etc.

Then just have the heroes of each of these worlds unite to fight an intergalactic villain like Master Hand.

And you're exactly right about Nintendo bouncing back. I'm a Nintendo guy at heart (N64 is the GOAT console) and I'm saddened by everything that has happened to them post N-64. They've fallen behind the times and have become obsessed with reinventing the wheel with all these motion control gimmicks instead of just making fun, quality games.

Doing this universe would allow them to tap into their rich history, make tons of money, and invest it back into the gaming industry to become the giant that they used to be.

How about HBO does a new Game of Thrones but with Super Heroes.

how about a villain-only film where they duke it out

Hasn't been done in a movie, but the comics version of "Wanted" was pretty much this. A world where all the heroes had already been defeated long ago and only villains remained.

That's not the point AT ALL. By monopolizing the industry, superhero movies not only take too much place in cinemas, they also take good actors away from more interesting roles.

The ultimate example is the movie I mentioned in the OP, Dr Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton should not be making superhero movies. Ben should be given the lead of more interesting movies (historical drama, psychological thriller) and Tilda should remain one of the Coen's muse or play in foreign movies like Snowpiercer.

But when they get offered mountains of money by Hollywood, it's like an offer they can't refuse...

You make a good point. You should go watch Winter Soldier tonight. No one can dislike that movie.

Birdman is on another level. It's so sarcastic and ironic at the same time that very few people get it. I don't say you didn't get it: I just tell you "rewatch it with an open mind". I admit to stopping it first time I saw it. I rewatched it this year and fell in love. Re-watched it 3 more times and I put it at #1 of the last decade (for me).

The premise is funny too: a superhero movie (yes, it is) about an actor who played a superhero but refused to continue and gets blacklisted by the industry. He decides to go back to his theater roots but a rival steals his thunder. Then, reality gets mixed with fiction and nobody can tell what is true or imaginary for the rest of the movie.

Add to that the fact that the lead is an actor who used to play a superhero (Batman) but got blacklisted for refusing to continue and the supporting actor is also a guy who got blacklisted after refusing to continue playing a psuperhero (Hulk)!

So many levels man!
